Another extended warranty question...

Does anyone know any extended warranty company that would cover my 2005 SL55 with 91,700 miles. I have called a few that would cover it but at ridiculous prices. I want to keep the car it is in perfect condition and runs great. Thanks.

Post NAC will do it...

Look up NAC....I think you can only buy it at a certified NAC warranty seller, like some used car dealerships can...I bought a NAC warranty for my 2005 SL 55, and it was extremely expensive, 100 dollar deductible....3 year/36,000 mile warranty.....unfortunately it is necessary though....

Was this their highest coverage plan? How have they been thus far?

Who is this with? Is this the highest coverage plan? If this is from a reputable company and offers highest coverage, it is WELL worth it. You will absolutely spend $5,500.00 (I'd guess 2-3 times that!!!!) on SL55 repairs over the next 4 years 48k miles.

I don't know how aftermarket warranty companies make money off of our cars. I just hope a few of the good ones still offer plans for the AMG and 600 cars in a year when I go shopping for a newer one.

Post NAC seems to have good reviews...

NAC seemed to have good reviews, and my local Benz mechanic gave it the thumbs up also...I got a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty for almost $5,700 with a $100 dollar deductible....I hope I don't end up regretting it!

Google search NAC warranties....

You won't regret it. You will easily have $5,700.00 worth of stuff covered over the next 3 years and 36k.

Again, I don't know how these companies make money off the AMG/600 cars.

I am buying an SL55 next week. It is an 07 with 31k on it. I get 4 years 50k from signing date, and it is NAC's top plan for 4k with a 100 deductible.

Congrats on warranty......

My Easy Care warranty has almost paid for itself or just say I paid for the repairs over time......$ 3900 warranty cost for 4 years - 60,000 miles odometer limit

New front passenger side ABC strut work - $ 2,200

Intercooler motor/Ignition module repair (misfires) - $ 1,200

Bought SL 65 at 27,000 miles, now 43,000 in almost 2.5 years.....

One year plus left on warranty.......one more new strut repair makes the warranty more worth it......I will drive it much more the next year to see what can break under warranty........LOL....

It will be interesting to see if I opt for warranty IF I keep the car past the warranty expiration.........this car will be hard to part with.......sensational car........

Well after long conversations about the coverage and the complaints my fears I think are unjustified they have an A plus rating from the BBB and only have 13 complaints. I purchased the warranty wish me luck.

Good luck.....it is an unregulated industry which can be a challenge as sometimes they make it up as they go.........once I got close to the having warranty repairs equal the cost of the warranty, they started making things up that were not in the paperwork I signed.......limited dollar allowances for parts, etc.....when the first few repairs were not questioned........

This is one of my fears but I hope they are as good as the first extended warranty I had through Chrysler they paid all repairs always without any issues. I know there will be repairs in the future that is the nature of this car so we shall see. I'm also limited on companies because of the age and mileage on my car. I will keep everyone posted on repairs using this warranty company.

From what I have been reading, nd now have seen personally, these AMG cars are on of the most unreliable cars I have seen. Absolutely would not even consider owning one without a warranty.

I am buying an 07 this week with 31k on it, and had them bring it to MB. It has a power steering hum which I hear is very common, and also an oil pan leak which is also common. MB quoted 4750 for those two jobs, and 1k for brake pads. The dealer that i am buying from (non MB) is having all of that repaired for me now.

I took the advice from Bruce at Beck Imports on this (cheapest warranty. Getting NAC for 4k, 4yrs full from him). Bruce sent me the NAC inspection form, and I had the dealer take the car and the checklist to MB so they can complete the NAC inspection. Well, they found all of these problems! So to get a warranty, you MUST have this inspection done anyway so pay the 200, and have it done FIRST. Bruce saved me a huge headache, and a lot of money here. Lesson learned by me, and fortunately, it cost me nothing to learn.

Another moral to this story is this vehicle already had a rear main seal done in January of this year (have receipts). So for all this to be wrong with a vehicle that has only 31k on it is pathetic and absolutely forces the purchase of a warranty!

+1 on Bruce.
I use him to buy my cars and my warranties.

Easy Care

Just got renewal quote for my 04 sl55 with 63,000 on it in perfect shape. They want $8412 for 36 months or 30k miles and a $500 deductible. I bought the care last year and transferred the existing Easy Care to me from the previous owner. Easy Care paid abou $5300 earlier this year for various suspension, ABC, steering rack and other items so was totally worth it. But $8400 for another 3 years seems really high.

These companies are getting smarter. They now realize these cars BREAK and break often. LOL.

I never understood how they could offer 4 year 48k mile warranties with a $100 deductible for $4,200-$4,800.00. Jesus, most of us probably rack that up in 6 months...a year if the warranty company is lucky.

I would take $4800 for a 4 year $100 deductible in a heartbeat. Anyone pay that recently? If so, let me know ASAP with what company and who you contacted.
Thanks

BTW. I live near San Francisco and NAC doesn't sell policies in California unless the car is financed thru some credit union etc., which it's not. Anyone have another company with "reasonable" pricing?

Back in 2009-2010, that price range was the standard. Then they got smarter.

An Easy-care warranty for $8412 for 36 months or 30k miles and a $500 deductible is now a much tougher choice. I think I'd still go for it, but it is no longer a no brainier.

Bruce seems to think Fidelity out of Florida is the best. I've also heard him say good things about NAC.

2007 SL55 w/030, 2014 B Electric, 2012 ML350, 1965 Shelby GT350 w/48IDA Webers, previous 06 SLK55
Hey Guys,
This is my first post on this forum. (kind of a weird place to do an introduction, but…) My wife and I just upgraded to the SL class car (07 SL55 AMG w/030 performance pkg) from a 2006 SLK55 with 82k miles. We were the original owners of the SLK since it was new; I killed it by commuting with it.
We bought this 07 SL55 last Sunday the 11th. It was our way of entering the SL class. We’ve been in the market for a while now looking at 05-08 SL55’s or 09-SL550’s. We found it at a BMW dealership in Marin county (here in the San Francisco bay area). It has 48k miles on it. The BMW dealership sold it with an extended warrantee from Zurich (anyone ever heard of them?) 2yr/24K with a $100 deductable for $7100. This is Zurich’s “preferred” contract not their “comprehensive”.

This extended warrantee post is very interesting to me, and prompted me to post. The car is currently at Autobahn in Belmont (my regular MB servicing dealership). I’m paying through the nose getting the car updated. They are finding a number of things like motor mounts, and struts needing replacement. Fortunately the F&R brakes were already done about 2 months ago by the previous owner (which was expensive $4k+) as with valve cover gaskets and rear seals have been replaced. I heard were somewhat common. Another item that was replaced was some suspension pump thing. My service advisor said to me;” welcome to the big league in terms of car services”.

He recommended an Easy Care warrantee. So we are in the process of converting (maybe) to Easy Care. I briefly spoke to the finance manager who said we can purchase a 36 mo/36K Total Care pkg for $5977 but my issue is how can this dealer sell me a service contract even though we bought the car elsewhere? Not trying to hijack the thread.
Cheers,
Earl J

Party is over for the extended warranty coverage on our cars. These companies have figured out that these cars BREAK and cost thousands a year to maintain.

I just got a quote for a Fidelity platinum warranty. They wanted $14,000.00 (!!!!!) for 3 years and 36k miles with a $100 deductible.

Price was the same for both an 05 SL55 with 60k and a 04 SL55 with 57k.
