SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Another extended warranty question...

I don't know how aftermarket warranty companies make money off of our cars. I just hope a few of the good ones still offer plans for the AMG and 600 cars in a year when I go shopping for a newer one.
Who is this with? Is this the highest coverage plan? If this is from a reputable company and offers highest coverage, it is WELL worth it. You will absolutely spend $5,500.00 (I'd guess 2-3 times that!!!!) on SL55 repairs over the next 4 years 48k miles.

Too many bad reviews I will not buy it...
Google search NAC warranties....

Again, I don't know how these companies make money off the AMG/600 cars.

Bought SL 65 at 27,000 miles, now 43,000 in almost 2.5 years.....
One year plus left on warranty.......one more new strut repair makes the warranty more worth it......I will drive it much more the next year to see what can break under warranty........LOL....
It will be interesting to see if I opt for warranty IF I keep the car past the warranty expiration.........this car will be hard to part with.......sensational car........

I am buying an 07 this week with 31k on it, and had them bring it to MB. It has a power steering hum which I hear is very common, and also an oil pan leak which is also common. MB quoted 4750 for those two jobs, and 1k for brake pads. The dealer that i am buying from (non MB) is having all of that repaired for me now.
I took the advice from Bruce at Beck Imports on this (cheapest warranty. Getting NAC for 4k, 4yrs full from him). Bruce sent me the NAC inspection form, and I had the dealer take the car and the checklist to MB so they can complete the NAC inspection. Well, they found all of these problems! So to get a warranty, you MUST have this inspection done anyway so pay the 200, and have it done FIRST. Bruce saved me a huge headache, and a lot of money here. Lesson learned by me, and fortunately, it cost me nothing to learn.
Another moral to this story is this vehicle already had a rear main seal done in January of this year (have receipts). So for all this to be wrong with a vehicle that has only 31k on it is pathetic and absolutely forces the purchase of a warranty!

I use him to buy my cars and my warranties.

I never understood how they could offer 4 year 48k mile warranties with a $100 deductible for $4,200-$4,800.00. Jesus, most of us probably rack that up in 6 months...a year if the warranty company is lucky.

An Easy-care warranty for $8412 for 36 months or 30k miles and a $500 deductible is now a much tougher choice. I think I'd still go for it, but it is no longer a no brainier.
Bruce seems to think Fidelity out of Florida is the best. I've also heard him say good things about NAC.
This is my first post on this forum. (kind of a weird place to do an introduction, but…) My wife and I just upgraded to the SL class car (07 SL55 AMG w/030 performance pkg) from a 2006 SLK55 with 82k miles. We were the original owners of the SLK since it was new; I killed it by commuting with it.
We bought this 07 SL55 last Sunday the 11th. It was our way of entering the SL class. We’ve been in the market for a while now looking at 05-08 SL55’s or 09-SL550’s. We found it at a BMW dealership in Marin county (here in the San Francisco bay area). It has 48k miles on it. The BMW dealership sold it with an extended warrantee from Zurich (anyone ever heard of them?) 2yr/24K with a $100 deductable for $7100. This is Zurich’s “preferred” contract not their “comprehensive”.
This extended warrantee post is very interesting to me, and prompted me to post. The car is currently at Autobahn in Belmont (my regular MB servicing dealership). I’m paying through the nose getting the car updated. They are finding a number of things like motor mounts, and struts needing replacement. Fortunately the F&R brakes were already done about 2 months ago by the previous owner (which was expensive $4k+) as with valve cover gaskets and rear seals have been replaced. I heard were somewhat common. Another item that was replaced was some suspension pump thing. My service advisor said to me;” welcome to the big league in terms of car services”.
He recommended an Easy Care warrantee. So we are in the process of converting (maybe) to Easy Care. I briefly spoke to the finance manager who said we can purchase a 36 mo/36K Total Care pkg for $5977 but my issue is how can this dealer sell me a service contract even though we bought the car elsewhere? Not trying to hijack the thread.
Cheers,
Earl J

I just got a quote for a Fidelity platinum warranty. They wanted $14,000.00 (!!!!!) for 3 years and 36k miles with a $100 deductible.
Price was the same for both an 05 SL55 with 60k and a 04 SL55 with 57k.
