I'm thinking about one or the other for my 600.
What's best?

I have the lowering links. Go for the module. It's a pain in the *** to get the links leveled on all 4 corners, and the ease of operation from the module is second to none.

I didn't think it was worth the money for the module, but Benz-o-Rama is correct, the module is so much easier for getting corners all the same height. I don't mind being under my car, so the links weren't that big of a hassle, and the roads in my area are not bad, between the 3 different heights, I am all good. Make sure get an alignment after you do either, I waited and chewed through fronts in about 7k miles.

I just had a lowering modul installed this spring. I love the flexibility of it. I think it is worth the extra cost.

On the subject of alignment...as I just read the same advice on here last night.
Is the car to be aligned after adjusting the car to the preferred height (lowering module)?
Would I be correct that these modules are not for raising and lowering to different ride heights over and over, but to find one setting, and then you don't fiddle with it? Not sure I understand the flexibility of adjustments.

I had mine aligned at the setting i use the most, which is also the lowest and will potentially cause the most wear.

Here is my 2 cents. If you have an airmatic car, align to the most used setting. If you have an ABC car, you have the option to do either because of the speed adjustment capability on the ELM that only works with ABC. My car drops half way down and 25 MPH (half setting). At 15 MPH, it drops the rest of the way down to whatever setting I have it at (full setting). Above 25 MPH, the car rides at normal height. I want the aesthetics of the drop when parked and going slow and the advantage the extra shock travel at normal height at freeway speeds. The two speed settings are fully adjustable.

My car is currently being installed with an ELM, i'll post once its done.
By any chance, is there ANYONE or ANYTHING that can change my suspension to just springs and shocks? I know a conversion like this might be costly, but does anyone know of a company that can make one for my SL55?

I know some of the E55/E63 guys have changed out their airmatic system with coil overs. You might check out their forum for help. No SL to my knowledge has done it.
