1994 SL500
Advice on a 2009 SL63?

Hey everyone, I am a longtime Vette enthusiast and 1994 SL 500 owner. The SL has finally developed enough electrical gremlins that I am looking to trade up, and I have my eye on a 2009 SL63.

Are there any known or frequently recurring issues witht hese cars that I should keep my eye out for?

Hi Loco Vette, I have had a SL63 from new 2009. Up till now it has been
100% pure enjoyment, and hasn't put a foot worong. Highly recommended.
I believe one member had some gearbox trouble but mine has been peeerrfect.Advice on a 2009 SL63?-cf-016.jpga.jpg

Search these boards Loco. There are plenty of potential problems with the R230 models. ABC suspension, top issues, trunk issues, multi-function seats crapping out, etc.

That said, 2009 should not have any real issue yet and it is still new enough to find one with warranty left and the opportunity to extend the warranty further. Maybe a CPO SL63 is in your future. :^)

These are great GT cars and will pu tplenty of smiles on your face. I happen to prefer the torque of the 55K engine so you might want to look for a 2007 or 2008 SL55 if there are any available for a test ride.

I remember reading quite a few threads about the MCT (multi-clutch tranny) on the 2009 SL63s being unreliable. MCT first appeared in 2009 in the SLs.

I think a lot of the gremlins on the earlier R230s have been resolved. An amazing GT for sure. I do recall seeing a thread on the E55/E63 forum about wear issues or something with the 6.3. Maybe some of the 63 guys know what I am referring to. I did a quick search, but did not find the thread. I will post it if I find it later.

going into first gear, the vehicle tends to buck.
this problem resolves when it is hot outside or the engine is warm.
no other "issues" with this vehicle.
the abc suspension on the sl63 works much better than the older sl55.
