Quote: Thanks Juha, I will give that part number to the parts guy tomorrow and hopefully something comes up. I'm assuming you took out the wires and attached the pins yourself? Also, if that plug is for the xenon headlight adjustment, does it still adjust without it plugged in?
.

If that plug is for that It don't adjust it anymore..... I'm not 100% sure.
But I don't need it.... you have no passenger or seat at the rear. So the car is at the right level / position al the time.
Yes I change the pins my self... it's took few hours to do it.... When you assembly the wires you must look at the wires thickness also so you do it right. If I remember right two of them have same color but the another one is thinner.

I ordered the conversion wire set from the germany site, it should arrive pretty soon
I just hope everything works, I don't want to waste any time on this wiring thing, it's too much! this car is too detail......I am having a very very hard time finding those small parts and getting everything together, let's just hope the $180 wire set will work so I can focus on other stuff

I only change the plugs..... take of the old plug to new one and I use the same wirings.... no problem at al.

Here is some picture how I do it.... hope it's help.

Juha
i did see these pics before. i just wasn't sure if you got just the plugs or not. i ended up getting the whole wire thing from kabeldaviko. when i have time i will track down each wire and see what is going on.
does your flap still work on the low beam when you hit your high beams on?

I'm slightly confused, the new facelift headlights 09-up don't come w/balasts attached like old headlights. What are you using for balasts? Reworked old 1's to fit new headlights err? Thanks

well truck did a little bit more than eat up a head gasket. tuesday night the water expanded and apparently put a crack in each side of the block. last night, it was colder but figured most of the water was out anyways. well, it now put 2 huge splits in the block!!! *****!! i just thought it was a leaky head gasket at first.
got a line on an engine i can rebuild and picking up early morn. nothing special just a quick hone job and new bearings and rings. as if i didn't already have alot to do!!

Quote: Don't get caught up in the huge wheels IE 20x10 20x13 (my personal setup w/265/30 345/25 tires) The extra width not only kills gas mileage but these huge wheels ARE ALL TERRIBLY HEAVY & kill HP/TQ quite noticably 40-45 rwhp & rwtq LESS (yes dyno proof, & why I'm switching to much smaller/lighter CCW'S)

Adding 375's outback is just adding insult to injury.. The effects are even MORE noticeable on SL55's as they have 100 LESS rwtq & about 30-40 less rwhp stock vs stock, forget factory ratings I've seen umpteen 600/55 stock & modded Dyno's & I've driven both SL55 & SL600 before & after huge wheels w/widebody kits.

These huge 3-piece 20x13's weigh anywhere between 40-45 lbs ea add 35-40 lb 345-375 tire then add the 20x10 front wheels/tires & it just gets worse you'll soon see what I'm talking about if you go this route.. (Rotational mass murders perf, I never thought it'd be this much though) Now as far as looks go by ALL means they look stellar but @ what point are you willing to suffer so much performance LOSS for beauty?

If I'd known this before adding these Tonka wheels I'd of done it much differently (though the look is perfection, & I'll keep them for car meets/shows or occassional summer cruising) Was tempted to sell them to spring for the over priced lightweight HRE's but CCW's are slightly lighter & HALF the price + I can have both looks & switch whenever I want..

Just trying to impart my & (3) other Widebody kit owners experience who added these giant wheels etc (2) of the (3) other owners dumped the 20x13's etc & went to 19x11 or 20x11 rears & 19x8.5 or 20x8.5 fronts..

Edit: just looked it up 345/25/20 tires weigh 35-36 lbs ea 375's 39-40 lbs each.
I have think a lot about what you have write here..... and you have right.
Your Rennens looks also great..... I have ask an offer from CCW now.
I have ask them what kind of size they can made also.
At the rear they can made 12.5*20" and front 10*20" and they are 1 piece wheels so they are lot lighter than 3-pieces. If I take it without concave they are going to be even lighter.
But I don't like the model of the wheel... Here is a picture with those rear dimension.

For me the weight it's not so important I like more how they look at the car..... but who knows... it's very difficult to decide but I must do it soon.

Beawar that's theres a big different between US and EU headlights ...... you can not take a headlight from a SL55AMG for the American marked and make it work in a SL55AMG made for the European marked ..... it's not the same light. Any cars brought into Europe from the US will need to change both headlights ..... but the stickers should be the same but not sure about the wiring inside the stickers .... will guess it's different to.

well, you guys thought i worked fast before. this is going to be a marathon. engine out of truck, new short block and heads already in possesion. going to buy a quiggley solid axle 4x4 conversion van in a few hours with a v-6. then the swap for the new motor goes into the 4x4 van and it's v-6 swapped back into my van. then sell my van for peanuts to get it gone. have to swap over all racks and tow hitch and everything.
pretty ambitious for the next 4 days? lol. adding a corvette cam to the engine also for a few more ponies. tons of work but will be a very nice and rare work truck when done.

I didn't even think of going 20"s w/CCW

Great idea! I'm shooting for max perf though the CCW lightweight 20"s would be ultimate comprimise IE 12.5" rear width is fine. I believe real SL65 Black S. only run 20x11.5 rears Trust me you dont need 20x13's & the look would be barely noticable vs 20x12.5

I'm after 18x12 18x9 CCW barely 21-23 lbs

PS go for multi-spoke CCW's the Concave look is nearing it's end. CCW's have some very nice Timeless NON concave designs IE look better than MB stock 65 Blacks INMOP

i checked the prices on the ccw's, pretty cheap if they can make the offset in a flush spoked type of wheel. the center would need to extend about 6". or, you could get there max backspacing offered, and get the rest of the way with a bolt on hub centric spacer.

I got more info today from them.
They can made the wheels with following specs.
front lipp will be 3" and the rear is a little over 4"

Front : 10*20" ET 7
Rear : 12,5*20" ET0

They give me the price few days ago... 3500 USD.

here is another set of works in 18. cheap too.

http://www.s2carbonworks.com/jdmwovsgowh1.html

i used to have a set of rezax 2's on my 350z. 20x9 and 20x11. built motor, tt, haltech, nitrous. car was awesome! sold it about 4 years ago.

overZealous1's build thread-picture006-1.jpg

if anyone was staying with 18's, here is a lightweight racing wheel comparable in price to ccw, but looks better imo. not sure how they will hold up to a 4400lb car though. thats one problem with "lightweight" and this car
