it is looking sick the more it goes together. the color is working just as expected and making the already good seams and intersections look flawless.
ya, i'm not too worried about chris. his input on this whole build has been pretty idiotic and i have been putting up with it till now. people like to guide your project like it was their own. happens with every car on every forum.

i like the contrast of the red tails against the blue. i am keeping the engine parts red and the calipers red too. i like the cf pieces, but for the cost to do the interior i would rather spend that on going faster.

Either way it will look good IMO

CF - I still haven't done the interior but I found a guy in NJ that does it real deal in a weeks time & it is quality work... oh & he is CHEAP!!! All my CF is on the exterior: CF Front Spoiler, CF Hood & Fender Fins, CF Center Caps, CF Rear Spoiler, CF Rear Diffuser.

Who you telling... want to see my "go fast" bills

Though your paint work looks excellent! You should think about adding the updated taillights inc clear center light, they're like bright shiny jewels vs old dull pre facelift versions They'll really pop against that new paint.

imo, the red still looks better. i always thought the clear brake light had an altezza look to it. in person, the red works awesome and will go with the other accent reds. it's all part of a plan.

i tried to even look up the updated tail lights and didn't see anything i didn't already have. darkened middle and led, but thought those were on all the amg's anyways. wasn't going to change them, but was curious if there was something different or you didn't realize thats what i had.

the red right now is a killer contrast. once i hit them and the car with the buffer, they will look better than new also. who knows, once i start putting the black on the car, i may head that direction with the lights too.
it is such a blinding blue in person, i can't wait to start putting the black accents on also and see how the balance is. the interior being light imo looks great! has an elegant feel.

Not trusted? OK? Owned? Dont see what that came from. So you cant say anything in a thread unless it is good. You ask what we think and when I say what I think you go mad on me? I only say what I think and feel. Its a matter of different taste. I just dont like the color. Not the end of the world. I would LOVE all of your project for ex if it if it was a dark reed metallic or something. I always trie to help members out from here and there. Why did you get so angry and rude suddenly to me and say things like I am not trusted and good to this forum? As I also said in the post the most importent thing is that you are happy wit it. The only thing negative I have said as I know on this project is the color? Do you love all colors out there ? If I offended you with my taste I apoligise of course. Not my intention. Even if I dont like your choise of color I still LOVE you passion,Skills and how good you make all fit with the poor fitment it had and all that...

OZ, I gotta agree with them brotha, the facelift AMG tail lights make the world of a difference on our cars. Updated mine, and they are worth every penny.

Yes they all have LEDs But 2007 up the tails have different, brighter & more LEDs. The third brake may have different, brighter, & more of them in it too but the biggest change is it is clear.

this isn't really an "opinion" thread. more of a "what scott is doing thread". the fact you don't like the color is an issue for you, not me.
i started this thread as more of a tutorial for guys afraid to do some of their own work and showing and explaining the steps and tools to do things. this thread has covered alot of mechanical to body work, tons of info and links in these pages.
now i am sure this color isn't one most would choose. that is the exact reason i chose it. most would go a "safer" route. that is fine. everything great always carries controversy. i think outside of the box and do not follow others.
prior to your comment i had just spent 28 hours in a paint booth over 2 days body hurting and sleep deprived. this has been a monumental task to pull apart and paint this car, one even i underestimated based on the sl. after knocking on what has to be hundreds of hours and the other time based sacrifices i have made during this project, and your first comment is to be "it's horrible". it is telling me a little about who you might be in the real world and thinking your opinion may actually count and trying to force on to others. if anyone had the ***** to say such a thing in person, they should really expect to be knocked out.

on the same token, i am not defending or forcing my choice of color on anyone else. mearly explaining all the reasons i chose it, with every reason being a viable one not based solely on what is my favorite color.

ON or OFF they look worlds betta than older 55 tails... Here's an older pic of my SL right after I got it back before I changed Exhaust tips & rear deck spoiler..

Here's good example from Raffi's Sig of what they look like OFF... The old style are just dull & no comparo

i gotta be honest, thats not a mod i am willing to spend $800 for. lol. they look the same to me, or not enough different to care about. money better spent in other areas for me.

first thing is getting car finished with present parts.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product. I have noticed just how different the color can look based on lighting. I get the impression it will look very different on those overcast days typical of western OR vs. a bright sunny day. I really like colors like that. My rather boring pewter metallic SL can look a bit drab in low light, but really pops when clean and on a bright sunny day.

part of it is how the camera pics it up also. mine was brilliant silver before and my gf one time knew which isle i was parked in a parking lot, and still had a hard time finding the car. it just blended in with the million other silverish colors. lowered, wheels, and looking good, yet it still blended in.
now, you could spot it from the moon!! lol
