Have you measure how much wider your car is now.... vs oem?
Prior is 67 mm wider at the rear as the OEM and front 27 mm.
My car is still waiting for the paint... end of this month they have time to paint it.
I'm looking for wheels.... and it's very hard to decide which I want.
If I go straight face then I can have 4-5" lip at the front and 6-7" at the rear.

Your car is going to like great when it's ready......

i think it will be killer, but pulls a touch away from the track fresh look i am going for. might be in a good way though.
Man... I don't know... what if you don't like it?

I like the idea & then again I don't... one thing is for sure it will certainly be a unique "OZ" touch & you would be the only person that I know that has done it to a SL - DO IT

i didn't measure it when stock. but, i do know that if i used my same wheels i had that sat pretty flush, i would of needed 2.5" spacers to get them to work both front and rear.
i think we both got approached by the same wheel company. sounds like a pretty good deal. i am holding off right now since getting my adv's on and really liking the look of them. i do need to replace the wheels on my camaro now though, so will make a deal with them after the sl is done. will get them in the same offsets as the adv's so that way i can swap wheels between the 2 cars.
so your kit is fully on and ready for paint? i almost have all the panels lined up and seams perfect to eachother. then, i will pull each one off individually and finish the interior of the parts. that will go alot faster. i may be ready for paint in a couple weeks also.

the cut will be with a cut off wheel, so very thin. if it looks like junk i can just glue the piece back in. i am finding that scratch resistant polycarbonate is not cheap though. $90 for the size piece i need!! i will need to heat and bend it slightly too. not sure how i am going to do that. oven isn't big enough, lol.

Assuming .045 or .035 wheel so I hear ya... & it's sounds like the $90 is a drop in the bucket after you buy a bigger oven

got alot done over the last 4 days! got a spray booth rented for this weekend and hitting all my primer. doing each piece individually. then, sand each piece and do one more full assembly of the car and make sure inner fender wells all fit correct and that everything will go back together looking factory. after that, color!!! decided on "voodoo blue". it is very close to the jaguar french racing blue, but, i for some reason couldn't get past having to tell people a german car was painted with a color named "french", lol.

today was mostly spoiler building day. here is the steps.

cut out existing bottom of misha spoiler. it was recessed so it would look like crap looking under it.
overZealous1's build thread-20130216_110515_zps7bfbbf2c.jpg

i used the stretchy fabic method to create my mold.
overZealous1's build thread-20130216_111905_zpsc582f4ff.jpg

first coat of random weave fiberglass over the fabric. i did 2 layers.
overZealous1's build thread-20130216_115929_zpsd29fc688.jpg

once cured the fiberglass/fabric part was removed and trimmed. i glued it back on using a type of short strand fiberglass filler. first coat of filler to even it out i used the same stuff. it is very strong.
overZealous1's build thread-20130218_110733_zps8dd671ca.jpg

here it is all ready for primer. since each coat of filler was sanded down to it's thinnest the weight was kept down and weighs no more than the spoiler did from misha.

here is the stand offs. it is 2.5" alum that i put in my press and made it oval. then welded on some 1/8" alum flat stock and ground smooth.
overZealous1's build thread-20130218_195656_zpse99d6384.jpg

here they are with the tapped holes and the bolts. the bottom of the standoffs will get epoxy poured in to lock the heads of the bolts so they will not back out or spin while putting the nuts on and off.
overZealous1's build thread-20130218_205751_zps78db6472.jpg

and after all the measuring and squaring here is basically the finished product. there is holes cut in the bottom of the spoiler and the stand offs run through them and go up and touch bottom side of top of spoiler. the bottom will get a nasty epoxy around the standoffs so the load will distribute to both the top and bottom layers of the spoiler. i figure i have about 10 hours into the complete ready for paint part. access to the bolts inside the trunk will be tough. there is 3 layers of metal to create the trunk lid and i will need to cut access holes in 2 layers to get to them. it will not hurt the rigidity though and will be covered by the trunk panel.
i have yet to epoxy it all together and will look at it over the next day to see if the height is right. i may go down another 1/2" or so.

if you look close in these shots, the s.s. adjustable cables are done for the front splitter also.

thanks man. can't wait to get it one color!! it still looks cool in person, but in pics the black wheels always gets drowned out by the white body panels and alot of detail is lost.

thanks. still a few more things to happen. i may eliminate the rear gills and just do one long one. i may just cut out sections in between the rear diffuser ribs and add just mesh and paint it black behind.
in the pics it looks like wing needs to come down, but, in person it seems about right. really on the fence about the hood window. i need to find the perfect Z metal i can cut up and weld to make a small frame for the plexi. i know it is made, just can't find it.
want to do all this little stuff but at this point i am getting close to just wanting the dang thing done!! lol

Oz,

Keep the faith man....you are in the final stretch. If you settle now you will regret it and probably just tear into it again and cost you more money and downtime in the future! Follow your gut, it has been a pretty solid lead so far!

thanks dude. it is taking lots of research also and finding just the perfect pieces to create a part that looks really custom. like my spoiler stand offs. just a pressed piece of tubing i had sitting in my scrap metal bin, hahaa.
after a couple hours of searching and having it in the back of my mind for a month, i finally decided to not settle for some led fog lights from ebay and make my own. finally just found the exact part i needed to make my own and make it look trick and can really blend it into car to look factory! waiting on shipping! they will go quick and will do a little post on making them. total cost= $10! lol
i am lucky i have such an understanding gf that not only gets into the build also, but not one single comment about spending too much time with it!! haha.

Voodoo blue.... it's going to look great!!!!
I like you modifications....

Now I have good news... next week to the paint shop.I'm going to take of all parts and paint them separately.... of course not the rear fenders..
Now I'm 99% sure I'm going to order following wheels.. at step lips. Brusched face and polish lips. Front 3,5"-4" and rear 6-6,5" lips.
At the picture you can see the wheels with straight lips...

Oh **** the time is going to slowly.....

Juha

I have thinking alot about the size and weight... but for me the look it's also very important so I'm going with following specs.
Front : 10*20" ET+7
Rear : 12,5*20" ET-18

After al this next step would be Speedriven upgrades. Bigger turbos and so on.
I already have theirs ECU / TCU tune and I'm happy with it.

I think my car is as low this car is.....
I have the Carlsson "lowering box module" and I can adjust the height front and rear separately. Many different lower levels.
I think my car is approx 40 mm lower than OEM lowest standard setup.
I think it's near at the suspension bottom
Maybe this car have the lowering links also.... but I'm not sure.

MY CAR IS AT THE PAINT SHOP NOW...
