there was alot more than an inspection that happened. there is alot of filler and bondo already in the kit. really makes me wonder how bad it was before someone already put a ton of time into it.
but, i have really inspected alot of other pics of misha cars now. they all have the same issues from the very first kit. mine just seem to be exaggerated. some parts of the kit are actually very flat. other parts have a mean twist! i have only used about a quart of fillers to this point, but i have maxed out my sanding on 2 primer and guide coats. the light gray that is on it is very thin and just an effort to get car mainly one color so i can visually see if there is anything else i want to change design wise before paint.
i admit i have not been working as entirely effieceint as a body shop would since i get distracted and will work on other parts too. but the hours have really racked up.
luckily, it is getting very close to being able to pass as a stock quality part. takes time, but it is possible.
problem is for me now is the excitement has passed for the most part, and it is feeling more like a job. still though, quality is winning over just the want to have it finished.

Thanks overzealous kudos to you!
Misha do themselves no fakirs by ignoring this thread and not offering an explanation. As a forum sponsor (I think) that really blows yards of Johnson

here is a few closer shots. getting the car more and more together and all is looking good to go. just a touch more work possibly where the front fender meets the side skirt.

the rear fender to rear bumper. totally blended to create a smooth transition. about 1/2" gap had to be filled here.

overZealous1's build thread-20130313_202916_hdr_zpsbd7bc17f.jpg

headlight area. got both to have the same reveal now and gaps down to a consistent 1/8". they are not aligned perfect in pic, but there is still more adjustment left to it and easy to set on final assembly.
overZealous1's build thread-20130313_203344_hdr_zps197a8eed.jpg

sideskirt to rear fender transition. lots of filling here to get a smooth flow.
overZealous1's build thread-20130313_203010_hdr_zpsc6a50e02.jpg

front fender to sideskirt. this is actually the worst of what is left. already spent alot of time straightening this section, now just close gap a little more and get the edges more square and crisp. panels are not aligned to door in pic, but easy to set in final assembly.
overZealous1's build thread-20130313_203155_hdr_zpsbe709d6d.jpg

car is mostly back together and now doing final things to create adjustability to panels and final assembly methods and ways of connecting panels together.
i have definately gotten some of my excitement back after seeing car together again and confirming now how close painting actually is!!! will be taking it for a little spin in primer this weekend just to make sure i don't get any weird panel vibration that can wear paint off, then spray booth here i come!!!
i chose the blue i did because it will tone down the wildness of the misha kit and soften any other possible long waves in any panels. most everything is like glass though except possibly the sideskirts. they will primarily only be reflecting the ground though which will be inconsistent anyways and hard to tell. the blue color should make it come out looking as good or better than factory original panels.

I've been following your build here and there, and there is no doubt you are putting a ton of time into it. You are clearly the guy most wish to be but aren't dedicated enough to become....lol I think I found something close to the color combo you are looking for and thought I'd share. I was wondering if you plan on bringing the front wheels out a bit closer to the face of the extended wheel well.(kinda like the BS in the link below). It may be a personal preference thing but to me it provides more of an aggressive stance. Either way I can't wait to see the finished product. I think the car below would have looked better with the stock taillights. It just makes everything look aftermarket even though its a true BS. Otherwise I think your blue is really going to stand out nicely.

as far as the front offset, it is kind of a double edged sword. the stock bs used different suspension than the regular sl. they had longer control arms so they didn't need huge offsets or spacers. that keeps the front scrub radius down. scrub radius is the arch the front tires turn in. lower scrub radius means it pivots closer to the wheel center and doesn't have much arch. turning radius was still lower in the bs though than a regular sl.
with having to space the wheels out on a regular sl, it greatly adds to the scrub radius. so even presently without my inner wheel wells in, my tires are hitting the inner metal with the current backspace. if i pull them out further, i will loose even more turning radius.
doing the inner wheel well fitment is the next and last thing on my list and will see if i can get more out of it. i am also going to run a 275 front instead of current 285. it will be 1/4" narrower and shorter, so i may be able to go 1/2"-1" closer to the outside and have the same turning radius.
the alignment is kind of deceiving also. depending on the pivot point, if i ran my camber straight up, the wheel would be past the fender actually.

so it is more of a mechanical desicion right now than a looks one. will be seeing if i can go further without having crap turning radius.

Really like the front splitter
The front wheel rubbing problems are most def due to the 285's the 275's will be bit better but still way too wide. My 20x10 fronts don't rub 1 bit using more than ample 265/30 tires turning radius is fine too. Look @ my Sig pic the fronts are about 2" or so further out adding much needed aggressive stance a build like this deserves. Your current front end setup looks terribly anemic (constructive criticism here, not bashing)

You need set of wheels w/correct offsets specifically made for the Misha widebody, using wheels made for a Camaro & giant 3" spacers are obviously big part of these problems..

part of it is i don't want a super dish wheel. there is no company that can make a one piece billet to fit the actual needed offsets. the wheel offsets are made for a newer z06 corvette. this way both of my cars are designed to run a much more readily available wheel combo (and easy to sell when change is wanted) and i can swap wheels between the cars as i will be doing 3 piece on the camaro. no matter what the wheel type is, that offset will create the scrub radius, which is already not so hot. i do agree it could go out another 1", but that is it. front spacers are only 1.25" right now.
my car is pretty slammed so i may be closer to those inner panels than you. a 1/4" difference in tire width and 1/8" smaller in dia actually gives a world of difference, and hopefully will give me the room to come out another 1". i'm just not willing to go much more and have tires rubbing, and raising it is out of the question. haha
part of what needs to happen first is resetting alignment. there is a ton of camber gain once you get past the normal drive height. the top of my wheel is tilted in over 1.5"! i need to see how the alignment is done to know if camber pivot point will be lower or upper control arm.

so don't worry guys, car isn't done yet. but where ever i set the tire, there is a reason i set it there.
