8 inch screen navigation - R230
Here is a 8 inch screen navigation system at Japan market.
1. factory handle remote buttons are used
2. price - 870,000 Yen ( plus tax) - almost $8,000.

It is a hard disk based navigation system.
So, the searching speed is very fast.
As I understand , it can be used only with Japan navi maps.
Driver's perspective view ? Does it mean "Bird's view"
which shows roads and buidings in 3-dimentions ?
On these days most of navigation systems at Japan and Korea
have it. And some has IDO function that shows busy roads
with different color according to actual situation.
So, the searching speed is very fast.
As I understand , it can be used only with Japan navi maps.

So I wonder who is the manufacturer and if it will be available to US customers sometime.

The manufacturer is a small Japanese company called SANPO.
They make many COMAND-style frames for SL class R230 ,
S class W220 , CL class W215, etc .
At that frame they install the touch screen and it is connected with a computer which has DVD player also.
This computer and DVD player is installed at the grove box.
It has a direct copy function of audio CD as well as many other
functions.
The navigation data installed in HDD of the computer is made
by Pioneer or Panasonic( you can select).
The screen size can be selected 7 inch or 8 inch.

the pictures and some English)
