Rims/tire suggestions please.

I just got back from Wheels Boutique...website linked below. They were pushing me to HRE's saying that the 3 piece wheel is better for a few reasons. Also that the HRE's are extremely lightweight (about 21 lbs) and maintain good ride comfort. The Lownhart's and Lorinser's are very heavy in comparison. He can also get me the AMG double spoke 19" rims, which after seeing Ron's friend's black SL55, i think they look great and maintain the F1 pace car look. So...decisions decisions.

Prices seemed pretty good especially since i can have the work done at the store instead of having them ship it to me. the chrome 19" HRE 545R's are about $5800 for the set including Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tires in 235/35 front and 295/30 rears. My stock turbines he said he would give me $1200-1400 credit.

Opinions?

Thanks in advance....linked below.

Wow....

I don't think you can go wrong with either one, they are both great wheels. I would say that the HRE's are probably a little lighter, stronger and better made, but the AMG double spokes are good wheels also. I think that I would go with the AMG 19" double spokes, but I don't have a good reason as of why, I just would. I do agree though it does give the car the F1 pace car look, and it means all buisness!!

Cheers.

Tire and wheels

The "19 AMG is my choice by far for a few reasons.

#1 They are available as a package from any M-B dealer.
#2 They come M-B approved Michelin Pilot Sport tires in the correct sizes.
#3 They are covered under the MBUSA Bumper-To-Bumper warranty. That means, no problems.
#4 The package comes equipped with the correct tire pressure sensors if needed.
#5 I have the on my car and they look like the were designed for this car (which they were).
#6 The price through M-B was very competitive.

On a previous car I had HRE's. They leaked, shook and I found that the company hid when the problems occured.

Very good points Silver, especially the warranty issues. I will probably be going with the AMG 19". Im wondering if it matters who i get the wheels from and will it still be under warranty.

Please send me a PM if you can with how much MB charged you with what tires.

If you shall decide to go for the AMG Style IV 19", you are very welcome to send me an e-mail for quotation. I dont think MB will give you factory warranty if you are not buying the wheels through your dealership. But if you're getting from an independant importer like myself, my company will give you warranty as well.

HRE 840R's + SL55 = WOW!!

You should consider the HRE 840R in 20"s or even 19"s for your SL55!

In response to Doctodd33.

The M-B part # is: 2304406881. The package is called the "Presidential Package".

As far as the warranty goes, the aftermarket cannot touch the MBUSA Bumper to Bumper warranty. Four years, 40,000 miles, total customer satisfaction guaranteed. I like the peace of mind that comes from the factory covering everything.

Silver SL55.

Is that an aftermarket part #?

I tried buting the AMG IV's during the factory process and they said I would have to wait until the car comes in.

If not too much trouble could you e-mail me with the price you paid for your package.

The dealer said he would give me credit for the take off wheels.
