What is the best technique to use when launching an sl65? Want to get quickest 0-60 and 1/4 mile times possible. Completely stock on street tires. I have an 07 which produces 621hp little more than the older models. Also I would like to know 0-60 and 1/4 mile times from guys that actually took their cars to the track.

Thanks!

What I basically do in my SL55 is give it a small burnout. Hit the brakes, accelerate up to 2100rpms just the moment before the wheels would start to spin, let go of the brake and accelerate, but i need to level with the pedals dont want to wheels the spin mad. I have over 650hp and this is my old setup, car is currently undergoing surgery, aiming for very high numbers, will post build once it will be done, hopefully in the next 15 days. Managed to clock 11.2 @ 210 km/h using michelin super sports.

Dont know about you TT boys

sports mode (starts in first gear), stability control off (it is not really off, but is a bit more forgiving), torque brake to 2000 rpms... let go off the brake and feed the throttle as fast as you can so there is no wheel spin.

Ive got a 55 also and on 20" streets and I spun the tires out of the waterbox just to dry them off and with the the TC off and in M (Manual) Mode, launched at 1,000 rpm (barley above idle). The car hooked up nicely and my 60' was 1.83 with a 12.58/112.08 et/mph.

Here is a decent gauge of what you can expect from your 65. Important note: look for cars with the pound sign (#) as that denotes a 'stock' car. From the looks of it, you can expect to be in the high 11's if you can launch it correctly. Thats amazingly fast for a stock car. Thats C6 Z06 territory.

Yup!

Kleemann K4 package, some custom parts (crank pulley) and a custom tune done by Evolve.
Car is almost in the 560rwhp territory (105 octane)
The car was custom ordered back in 2004, I had the 030 Package before it was even launched, my suspension is slightly different from other AMGs, it was a one-off suspension built by AMG (lighter), My car weighs 1750 kilo's which is about a 80 kilos lighter than the standard SL55 (almost 1830?) (exhaust, engine parts and etc), front and back bumpers weigh only 4 kilos (each). Car is undergoing major surgery as well, new roof (I'm still keeping the vert) but just SLIGHTLY lighter maybe just a difference of 2 or 3 kilos, front right and left fenders will be reproduced but lighter than original form. Front bonnet and rear bonnet as well (but that's in the near future not anytime soon).

My interior was a one-off as well, I have the same features as other AMG cars, but it was handmade by Fab-Design, (the seats weigh less)

Well that's the old setup, car should be under the knife in the next few days, my Weistec parts should be here any day, aiming to hit the 10-second club with my baby. My car currently is quicker than my LP640 and 458 from a rolling start
