Maintenance questions - How To's?
Just bought a 2003 SL55.
Wanted to change and flush the ABC fluid/Filter so I've purchased the filter/seal/spring and about 12L of CHF11S fluid.
Is there a DIY guide somewhere on this forum? I can't seem to find it through search.
I know it'll involve a Rodeo, just hoping to change everything myself first before I bring it into a mechanic for the Rodeo part.
Cheers and thanks in advance!

mercedes does not recommend flushing the abc fluid anymore as it has shown that flushing fluid does nothing for reliability and for addressing potential issues.
only filtering it with a new filter is now recommended in case of sagging of vehicle over night (and sagging is rarely if ever fixed by filtering the fluid).
this how it goes: (you need to purchase two abc filters) and do it when the abc filter is warm.
1. replace old filter with new filter
2. rodeo twice
3. replace new dirty filter with the second new filter
you are done.
buy another filter, do the procedure above and keep the pentosin for the time when you are going to leave the current one spilled on the floor

your new filter might come with a new seal in which case- replace it.
the spring does not need to be replaced.
btw, make sure you are buying the new finer mesh filters ( i forget the actual microns) . if you are buying from an authorized mercedes dealer he will provide you with the new one by default. if you are buying from another source- make sure you get the updated part.

While it may not be recommended, i had flushed mine out just to make sure i had fresh clean fluid in the system after i bought the car. I did what ALX said in regards to the filters, but i also removed the top line from the ABC reservoir, which is where the fluid pumps back into the reservoir from the hydraulic system, and performed the rodeo function, until clean fluid started to come out of the removed line while making sure the reservoir stayed full of fresh fluid. Wasn't cheap on all the fluid but i guess at least i know it has fresh fluid

I got a set of the plugs (and four bottles of cleaners) from Advance for less than $160 all-in using the codes found above. ($40 off $110+ twice)..
Wondering what else I can buy using those codes.. lol
