Quick wheel question, 19x9.5 et40 in the front.

I know my front wheels are 18x8.5 et30 off 2003 SL55, wonder what size spacers do i put in order to fit 19x9.5 et40 in the front.

I want to put just enough to clear the struts, maybe a 10mm or 15mm?

Thank you very much in advance.

If possible, measure clearance with current wheels/tires in mm.

Since 9.5" et40 have less inner clearance than 8.5" et30 by about 23mm, assuming you use same tire as current and not any wider, you will need a minimum of 15mm spacers.

Thank you very much for the advice.

Also, i notice the hub length is extra long compare to a lots of other vehicles, wonder if wheels are limited?

The 19x9.5 et40 wheel is off a newer Audi, which is same 5x112 and centerbore 66.6. Hope it will fit.

Porsche guy who drives SL63 w/ perf pkg AND perf suspension
you can go in the 25 to 30 range, so 10 to 15mm spacers

I don't think x9.5 offset 30 can clear the front struts. Please correct me if I am wrong

My car is at the shop getting facelifted so I don't have any pics as of now. They are Brabus Monoblock VI's. I will find out the offset soon when I put the car on the lift.

If I recall, all Brabus wheels have a default of 45mm. On our SL55 I used to have 20mm spacers in the rear and 15mm on the front.

Also, i am having problem with my H&R 20mm spacers, invoice part number is #4055665SW but on the 20mm spacers is engraved #4055665. Anyhow, since the front hub length is long, the spacers i have now won't even sit properly onto the hub.

You've got the wrong part number (you have rear spacers instead of fronts, they are different for SLs, as well as many others). The correct 20mm part number for the front is 40556659. Its only in silver. In black is only for the rear and (as you already found out) will not fit the front. That "9" at the end of part number means front for those high center bore cars. I also do not see how its possible - this combo has over an inch less room on the inside than stock.

I want to fit 10.5s in the front sometime in the future. Gotta figure out the offsets/ tire size to make it work.

I agree. 9.5 et20 you'll be passed fender, so I would try 15mm (30556659) spacers first. Then, if you're still not happy with the results - 10mm (20556659).

Yah, but i can't keep buying spacers haha.

And yah it has to be either 15mm or 20mm, just not sure if 15mm will clear the suspension.

9.5 wide et25 front wheels will clear struts, no question about it.
