SL63 rear bumper conversion
I am close to doing this conversion.
Those of you that have done it is there any diffuser that is as nice as the RevoZport CF SL63 RBS Rear Diffuser with Ground Effect but with a better price? I just can't get over how much it is... I mean I had EuroTeck make mine for my current 2003 OEM bumper & it was 1/2 the price?

It would be nice... BUT we need to find a more affordable diffuser though... the one pictured is like $1500 & remember we will still have to buy the SL63 bumper too & if you go OEM you are looking at $900 just for that

I know that this is certainly not the same quality but I have always wanted to have the SL63 look and I had this idea.

This diffuser is made by Sorona and obviously is molded as one piece. It wouldn't be too difficult to have someone wrap the diffuser part in CF. The look would not be completely accurate since it is molded as one piece and the are obviously gaps between the diffuser and the bumper on the OE. But for a lowly SL500 owner such as myself I think it would bring about the desired effect. Much less expensive too.

If the fitment is pretty good on this, I think I'll buy it.
P.S. When I bought my red Sl500, your car is what I had in mind. So clean, so beautiful. All of your mods are so tasteful and not to be unoriginal, but a close replica is what I seek.

I know that Sarona has had cars at SEMA and stuff but I really know very little about them. There are some videos on YouTube of them actually doing a widebody. I spoke to their tech guy on the phone about this bumper one day. He seemed knowledgeable about the product but I can say nothing for the workmanship as I have never seen the product.

I certainly respect for desire to stay OE on your car. However, The added cost can be insane and for some of us(me for sure) that kind of money for the product you get just doesnt seem worth it. I would rather spend that kind of money elsewhere on the car. I just think that the fiberglass bumper may be an option for some of the rest of us.
Also, it might work best for anyone trying this to cut the diffuser apart from the bumper cover and lay up carbon separately, then put it back together. Would make the layup much easier as well as give an actual gap making the final product look more authentic. Obviously it never will be. But for some, thats good enough.

Just my 2 cents, I saw that ebay bumper and was contemplating it for my facelift upgrade, but ended up going with all OEM just for the piece of mind. Didn't want it looking all mickey-mouse with the gaps and what not.
