I dont know if its a remote control or not..but i could tell it wasnt a real one by the window in the background, but the remote control idea came to me when i saw the headlights on.

That look sweet I would get one lol. The first pic looks real the window is rather some kind of window treatment display.

The remote model shown is a 1/12 scale model; I picked one up at the factory shop when I visited Bremen in May. It's pretty cool. The remote has a button to lower and raise the roof and although it doesn't work 100% like the real thing, it's still clever. The girls in China who screw it together must wonder what all the fuss is about.

The model itself is not digital proportional, so the throttle is off, full power forwards or full power reverse and the steering is either centred, maximum lock left or right. You can imagine this makes the SL very difficult to control and mine has had a series of rather close encounters with garden pots and gate posts and the gravel on my sloping driveway presents a significant challenge for the traction control.

Cost? About $150. Almost as much fun as the real thing...

I am not convinced that the first 2 are RC cars. The window could be a street window. I noticed the headlights are on high beams if im not mistaken, which also does not look like on an RC car. The RC car with the old man is obvious. The first 2 also look like they were taken on a street....notice the lanes.

On a side note, which model MB is the old man on top of? Notice that front spoiler? Which is it?

It's an R230 on a R230. The R/C car only has a front spoiler to keep the front from being scratched up everytime it hits something.

Yes, the black spoiler is indeed to stop the car getting wrecked, it really does race around the place, uses a 9.6v power pack. The black thing on the passenger side front fender is the antenna which is a bunched up wire.

It's not as realistic as the 1/18 scale model which has a much more accurate roof mechanism, but I've had a lot of fun this summer with it in the garden and proved that drinking wine and driving the model don't mix... I'd post some pictures but I think I'd get flamed about the unrepaired accident damage

MB Part Number is B 6696 2309, mine cost $125 plus tax.

Oh please do post. Also if possible some shots of the roof in action? I still can't get a picture of an idea in how the roof mechainism differs.

Thanks for the prices, is the car upgradable? As like HPI cars?

The two part roof works realistically but the rear window glass does not rotate; the trunk lid does not open all the way back, in effect the roof slithers underneath the trunk lid, forcing it open just enough. Not bad for a toy though...

No idea for sure, but the 1/12 certainly scoots around the place like crazy; the motor is either off or full on, so if you just "floor" it, it's away, my guess is a real 5-8 mph

Those first two pictures confuse me, it seems like a window shade on in the back but then you see the street curb

Probably a HUGE "car city" type of setup to play around with the cars.

Go to the "Strange Color Combo" thread. THen click on the link they have there (on first post) and just keep clicking on back at the bottom. I wanted to see what other pictures they had there. I stumbled upon some pics of Sl600s and saw the remote control one there also.
Sorry, i dont have a link to the exact site page. It is quite a lot of pages (back).
