Knee panel removal?

Anyone know how the Knee panel comes off on our cars? Seems to be held up by the top near the steering wheel, but I can't find the screws to unscrew them.

Thanks

It is attached with clips. See instructions here:

http://www.mercupgrades.com/Removing...rticle-68.html

Quote from the article:
"Lower the seats to the lowest and most rearward position to give best access, and then remove the trim which just pulls off from the centre console and then slides out from the dashboard. Put your fingers under the trim (above the carpet) in the middle and pull gently to release the middle clips, work your way backwards until all the clips are released and then pull the trim out (pulling to the rear of the car away from the dashboard)."

Thanks for the info, but that is not the knee panel.

Curious, unless your are a tall fellow whose knees bang about the panels, why would you need to remove the knee panels. Just curious.

Oh, duh. You meant the panel below the steering wheel. Next time I will drink my coffee first, then read the entire question, and THEN respond!

I removed the screws that were visible, then slid it towards the firewall, wasn't overly difficult, had to flex the panel slightly. I was fixing a sticky brake pedal switch not letting me shift outta P. If i remember right there was some wires for a light too.

I may have misled you..I'm talking about the piece above your feet..not directly below the column. The piece I'm referring to has the ObD II connector in it.

I should have probably included a pic when I first made this thread to make it less confusing. I am talking about removing this entire panel.

Hey there

Just wondering if you ever figured this one out? I am about to try but thought I would see if anyone else had done it first. The WIS shows how to remove just about every other panel but this one which contains an airbag.

Thanks

I figured this out a few weeks ago ... not long after posting. Pretty easy really.
1. Remove the cluster shroud. There are two screws that hold from the top
2. Remove the center console driver's side trim. There is a screw close to where the ignition switch is
3. Remove lower panel (where the OBD plus is). A few tore bolts there.
4. Remove 4 torx bolts holding the knee panel to aluminum braces.
5. Remove side cover on dash (between the dash and the door). There is one torx screw there. Mine was missing. I could tell it had all been removed before to install a radar detector so bunch of screws missing and parts broken.

I'll try to post some pictures later. I have them on my phone somewhere.
