Did u use (cutoff) the factory flange to the turbo or totally remake it? My exhaust shop wants to cut the end off the factory downpipe, because the connection is like no others he's seen, and then build catless pipe from there

We cut off the factory one for this set. The connection to the turbo is basically a V-band with slip fit. We will be getting these fittings made for our down pipes once we send these in to have a few sets made. You can also just use a normal V-band and mill out a small portion of the inside and it will slip on the turbo.

You can turn it off either by 02 sim, turning off the 02 via tune, to get rid of the CEL but if you have emission testing your gonna need cats, but I don't have one for 1+ year and I'll slap cats on just for testing

Can you use an elbow (fooler) on the previously post cat O2 sensor to allow it to remain in position, still be "functional" and not have the code stored in the ECU? I have a set of 100 cell cats that I was going to fab up but the time is just not there so when you have some prices for your exhaust work please post or PM. Also, do you have a dyno? I'm not totally pleased with my current tune and I need someone familiar with meth injection. I work about eight miles from you guys.....

For other readers: they are talking only about cars that are not registered for road use in the US, e.g. full-time track cars.
I'm sure you have all read Wikipedia:
"... it is a violation of Section 203(a)(3)(A) of the 1990 Clean Air Act for a vehicle repair shop to remove a converter from a vehicle, or cause a converter to be removed from a vehicle, except in order to replace it with another converter, and Section 203(a)(3)(B) makes it illegal for any person to sell or to install any part that would bypass, defeat, or render inoperative any emission control system, device, or design element."
Obviously, if people were planning to break laws, they would not brag about it on public web sites.

The Hi-flow mufflers I had were to big causing my oem tips to stick out way to far out. The new mufflers came in today and they are wiring up the electric dual exhaust cutoffs. Should be ready before this week

Probably not an awful lot of pics of this out there to reference, so I'll share mine. SL600 exhaust... With no mufflers of course.

Here is a pic before we finished up the welds today. The second half was just tacked in this pic. We installed a few set of V Bands so the exhaust can be removed easily. You can also see where we tucked the exhaust cut outs in. The exhaust sounds great and we will have the car on the dyno tomorrow. I will try to load a video so you can hear the sound. Much nicer hearing the turbos now:-)

So just to keep everyone updated the car does spool up a lot quicker, def feel more tq and def more of a kick to it, (Like a tune SL65 doesn't have enough tq with just a tune), the exhaust cutouts and the high flow muffler sounds great.
Did a base run before doing a tune still at 565 rwhp just felt boggy so at least that was a good sign (I was kinda worried about the one horror story where a 65 owner replaced his ignition coils, then he lost HP and he couldn't figure what happen). Went thru dyno tuning, shows a lot more power at the lower end but still requires more tuning until we get the desired amount of rwhp over the whole map.
So keep you guys posted on what happens Monday when its back on the dyno

Was having issue with TPS first time CEL came on, but hasn't came on since. Even with 02 delete when the car revs to 5,500-6,000 a cat code will come on. Fixed the CEL today the 02 simulator looks like it did the trick. Goes back on the Dyno Friday. I'll tell you this much though, now that the ECU isn't going on limp mode, car is ridiculously fast tried a few test runs on open clear roads, from 1st to 3rd gear traction control was lighting up like a Christmas Tree and having the tail go out, so toe links and LSD is def a must.
LSD I'm hoping gets here Friday seeing we had to special order the SL65 LSD from Quaife last Friday. As for toe links Renntech never got back to me if I need their cambers or not for there toe links, I'll spend $1300 for toe links but $1100 for cambers
but their is a vendor in the UK that I bought my Carlsson Rims that have a pair of Evosport toe links.
Also I'm glad I have a high flow muffler and dual exhaust cut outs. The high flow mufflers make it sound nice with a growl but not that loud. But when the cut outs are open holy ****. Its really loud and nice but I live in the DC area and work a lot in NYC and both area's have quiet zones which can have me ticketed which will give cops another excuse to ticket me by not having front plates. But if you guys are wondering how loud no muffler and cats are, the answer is very loud
Side note: Carbon Fiber trim came in last Friday, Installed it today and the Black/Charcoal leather with Carbon Fiber Trim looks a lot sexier now then the wood that clashed with the leather
