06 SL65 Full Brake Job - $?$?$?$
My 2006 SL65 has around 42K miles and needs brakes. Still running the pads and rotors that came from the factory. Presuming I need rotors and pads at all 4 corners - and probably a good time for new brake fluid to boot - what should I be looking at? $1500? $2500?
Maybe I can get away with just pads on the rear?

Recommend Parts.com for OEM rotors, if you're staying OEM (I understand they're Brembo (someone correct me if I'm wrong)), I paid ~$700 per for fronts and slightly more for rears (00's less than a stealership would charge for parts). I picked up some ECB Red Stuff pads from AutoAnything for another $210. I believe there may be some differences in pad prices as I'm unsure whether you have 8 caliber fronts like mine (05 SL65).
In total, my cost for a full rotor and pad replacement was ~$3200.
Hope this helps.

1.5-2k... I wish more like 3.5-4.5k depending on where you get your parts
Your best bet is to change the friction discs and get new one's from brembo and keep the hats. Either way the brake job on an SL65 is not cheap

2006 sl55 030 option - sold
I have a 2006 SL55 with 030 option and when I did my front brakes at 50k on odometer
The front rotors were $900 each OEM. front pads were $300 I think.
I installed myself.
I still need to do rears , but no light on yet. Lol

FYSA - when I received my rotors from Parts.com, I noticed the "shipped from" address was a MB parts facility in Illinois. They are truly OE and hundreds less than MB would charge. This shocked my Indy; he's wondering why he didn't know this to begin with. Also, might want to read reviews on ECB Red Stuff pads - you may want to pick these up. Performance and low-dust are pros; possible squeal is a con...I stress "possible" as the majority of owners report no probs, others report squeal. The latter may have to do with the break-in requirements for ECBs - 500 miles of restricted driving.
Lastly, two folks have mentioned that MB OE rotors, for SL65s at least, are Brembo. One was from Brembo when I asked to order "rotors only" (not avail); the other was my Indy. I can't attest to the accuracy, however, if Brembo rep mentions it, it may be true. Again, I paid $700 per for front rotors incl shipping.
Good luck. P

The rotors on my 2008 SL55 with 47K miles are still within tolerance so you may not need to replace the rotors. If you do, expect to pay at least $2000 for all four (the front two-piece rotors are very expensive). Add pads, labor and consumables and you're probably looking at around $3,000 - $3,500.

GOT LUCKY!!!
All 4 rotors were well within tolerance. So I got away with just pads front and rear for a grand total of $800.00. Which was a pleasant surprise - the $$$ I 'saved' went into replacing the accessory battery in the trunk which stopped taking a charge a while back.
