TUNE QUESTION! NEED ADVICE!
I have 07 sl65 amg that has a tune from Eurocharged when the car was in Houston. The car is in Salt Lake City now and we only have 91 octane gas. Houston had 93oct.
I have not noticed any engine knock or that car doesn't pull but it would be hard for me to tell the difference. My question is will 91 hurt the car in any way and is my tune still present somewhat or will I have to have it re-flashed. The reason we only have 91oct. Is because high Altitude (4100ft).
Thanks

I would ask the tuner who tunes for a living over asking the MB world population which may will come back with a bunch of different opinions. It's kinda like asking friends at the gym for medical advice instead of seeing the doctor in the first place. I think you will get much better direction.

My two cents, which is about what it is worth. first off, agree with racehouse. Secondly, EC used to pride themselves with the notion that they charged you for the first tune and any tune after another mod was on them. They did this because companies like Renntech would tell someone they needed a new tune and had to pay top dollar for it again after changing something simple like air filters. I have an EC dyno tune, but have never challenged EC on this claim. Additionally, I know you can only get 91 in the Rockies (sucks), but the fact that places like Salt Lake are so high suggests to me that if anything, your car is running rich. Pig rich is no fun, however it is generally much safer than running lean.
Shoot Jake at EC aka Loungin14 a pm and ask him.

Good move, while the car is down send in the TCU with the ECU.
You will benefit more power from the same tune without the tranny cutting power back due to torque limits. Either way, don't be upset if the new tune nets a little extra power.

Shoot! I didn't know there was a torque limiter. What are they limited too. I guess TCU is the next mode

The stock torque is limited from the factory to 738 ft./lbs., even though from the factory it was capable for more. The main reasoning is that since MB has to warranty the car from new, they felt it would prevent a lot less problems on the drivetrain, motor mounts, tranny mounts, transmission, axles, etc., etc. The torque limits can be removed so boost is not backed off between shifts, but all the fun comes in the form of a little abuse. In my opinion the fun out weighs the bad. I think an ECU/TCU upgrade is a pretty standard combo to begin with. I hope that helps.
