Reputable source front grill

I have a 2004 brilliant silver SL55 AMG with a cracked front grill.
I am looking for 1st person experience with a replacement.
Thanks,
I'm already loving this forum/community.

I bought a single bar front grille as a 'change' for my 2003 SL55. eBay purchase, black behind the grille, I like the looks and the fit is as good as OE. Quality seems good as well.

It may have come from this company: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-R23...hWTCZ1&vxp=mtr

This one is for distronic, my car does not have that, and they have a grille without the solid "Star" for non- distronic cars.

I have the stock grille from my 03. It is in great shape. If you want it, send me a PM. Not sure what a fair price is, but I will consider a fair offer.

I am hearing differences in height from 4 bar, 3 bar, and single bar.
I don't mind upgrading from 4 to 3 (or one for that matter)...I just would like first-person confirmation on a Vendor/Part # that fits a 2004.
Thanks!

As stated, the one I bought fit perfectly. Got it from eBay, same vendor I'm quite sure as posted above. Contact them for the correct fit of a non-distronic '04 SL55.

Oh yeah? Radar Intercept Officer.

Very cool! My college roommate was a Marine aviator. He started out flying the old F4s and then transitioned to 18s. He is retired now.

I used to live in San Diego (north county) in the 80 and 90s. I passed Miramar driving down I163 often with the sun roof open so I could watch the 14s on final. It is amazing I never caused an accident.

I have a private license, but it is non-current. I kinda lived vicariously through my roommate. Got to fly the 18 flight simulator at El Toro years ago. Very cool!

What was your roommates name/callsign?
My Brother was a TopGun instructor...so your Marine Buddy might know him or me...we are both retired (so 56/57 years old).
Small world...I was based at Miramar, lived on Camino Ruiz and surfed Del Mar 85-88

I will send you a message later today. I have to believe you or your brother know Rocky, call sign "Rocky". If I remember correctly, Rocky went through TopGun with the last group of jarhead F4s. Always told Rocky his call sign should have been Rockhead or maybe brick.

Smaller world still! In 1987 I bought my new home overlooking the Miramar facility. I am notheast of the airfield. My first year in my home, I was lying on an air lounge in my swimming pool. The air show was in town and there were thousands of people bearing the heat on the hot tarmac. Unexpectedly the air filled with the sound of a jet. I looked up and the jet was flying so low over my home, I could read the lettering on the bottom of the plane. For a few years, we used to have bar-b-ques and hand out binoculars to our guests. By the way, for the member in Kissimee, I just had a cold call to sell my lot in that area for $2500. Seeing that I had bought it for $5000 forty five years ago, I turned them down. Is the Real Estate market really that bad in your area?

SD was definitely fun in the late 80s, but I don't miss the cost of living. My house and 10 acres in Wisconsin wouldn't buy a condo in Santee

I bought a house on an island (Perdido key) in Florida with 100' of waterfront for exactly what I sold my townhome in San Diego for.

Is anyone selling these replacement grills for a 2007 SL55? The supplier above indicated that his grills are 2003-06 SL55 specific and Non-AMG SL's until 2007.
