Time for some new shoes. My '04 SL55 still has the original turbine wheels and I'm looking to modernize a bit. I really like to open 5 spoke look of something like the HRE 101 (although the price is a killer). Anyone out there have something similar like these? Post up some pics if you do, I'd love to see them!!

you can look around for styles you like and hre is a great wheel, among the higher priced range. Just make sure you get a forged wheel or a flow forged wheel Which isnt as good as a forged, but cost alot less. Dont get a cast wheel. they are usually the cheapest.
look at MHT ,vorsteiner, look at brands at tire rack or other stores or look on ebay for used ones
As you know, the HRE 101 is one of the most common/popular wheel styles at the moment. There's many different mfr's out there that make this style, just need to find the right offset.

Renn Motorsport RS51. I've had these for a few years. They are lightweight (about 19 lbs) and they have taken the odd pot hole without an issue. They come in a darker colour as well. They are also well priced. The black wheels are 10 spoke OEM AMG wheels off my E63 S.
I don't know if Vertini makes correct offset of their Monaco model.
I have them on my S600 and love the way they look. Would look just as good if not better on an R230.

Below are some basic specs with the estimate of the wheels on my car. Not sure of the offset or other detail as TAG Motorsports in San Diego worked with ADV.1 to set it up right. I saw them on a photo of a black SL on the ADV.1 website and I thought they looked right on an SL. Its funny, the SL isn't really that exotic looking, but with these wheels on it seems to drag over quite a few people at car shows. Initially I was thinking of some red accents on the ADV.1 wheel center, but in the end I thought many times less is more; however that may look good too for some. Plus I have seen some do custom work on the spoke of other wheels too, such as red accents on parts of the spoes but that too was a bit beyond my conservative self in this instance anyway.
