Will the 05's have the 7G-tronic transmission just like the 500s?

From what I've heard, it will have the dvd-based nav and will not have the free scheduled maintenance just like the other 05s in the benz lineup.

Any other changes?

Yep...No free maintenance except for the first 1000 and the tire rotation at 6500 miles.

So they're back to 1000 mile oil services again after they've been telling us its not necessary due to better oils, tighter tolerances etc. I always thought an oil change @ 1000 was best

I think the oil change intervals stay the same. It's just not free. The only thing free is when you come in after the break-in period which is at 1000 miles and the tire rotation interval at 6500 miles.

If an oil change is part of the 1000 mile service it's a change, at least for normally aspirated MB's. MB has'nt recomended an initial 1000 mile oil change for years especially with using synthetics right from the factory.

RJC,

The brochure as well as the faq supplied to the dealers are in www.autospies.com. It explains the service change for the '05 model year in detail.

Thanks for the link.

So guys it looks like the first 1000-3000 service is limited to saying hello to the service rep and a diagnostic check and at 6500 if you have staggered tires (as most of the higher end MBs do) you get a free air pressure check. WOW MB is #1
