Ordered an '05 SL55

I finally decided to get an '05 SL55 to replace my '04 SL500. My sales guy said it will be here around August/Sept.

He confirmed that the '05 SL55 will have the dvd-based nav, upgraded stereo and 7G-tronic transmission. Black Nappa Leather is an option. He's not sure if there will be slight changes to the bumper fascia.

Also, he confirmed that the '06 SL will have the same nose as the SLR McLaren and SLK. Apparently, MB wants all coupes/roadsters to be identifiable via that trademark SLR nose to differentiate it from the sedans.

Nice choice, you will never regret upgrading to the SL55. Have fun!
I wonder what the new stereo will be like, you'll have to tell us when you finally get it.

Thanks!

BTW, a poster on the R230 forum has a pic up of the new nav on an SL at the NY Auto Show. I wonder how he got to take that pic. It was very crowded when I went and I couldn't even get to the SL65 because they had it right beside the McLaren and eveyone was gawking!

jettie: what color and options did you order? I am also ordering a '05 and leaning towards silver with the black nappa leather.

Is the black nappa an option on other current MB models? I would like to see it in person before making a final decision.

BD1,

I'm getting Capri Blue, Ash interior, Wood trim, keyless go, bi-xenon headlights, multi-spoke wheel.

Not sure if Nappa is offered on the 500. I know it's standard on the 600.

I am ordering an 05 SL55 to replace my 03 SL55. Does anyone know if the black nappa option gives you an all black interior?

'05 SL 55 Black/Black w/mods from Eurocharged/Kleemann/BuckheadImports
Lightbulb I hope my '05 SL 65 has the SLR nose also

Does anyone know for sure if the '05 SL's will get the upgraded SLR nose ....?????

My SL 65 will be here next Spring as a 2005 model, and I was told it would have the upgraded SLR nose and also have the upgraded sound system and other upgrades also .... now I'm hearing that all these upgrades might have to wait until the 2006 model ...

anyone know?

I ordered mine in the nano-tech Black color with Shell colored interior ... I'm thinking of telling them to have the front of the seats in suede to help keep me in place, and the rest of the car's interior in crocodile skin ..... all in Shell light butter creme color with contrasting stitching everywhere .....and having them flare the fenders to accept much much wider tires .....I'd like to put Pirelli P-Zero Rosso Corso's all around with sized 345 mm wide tires on the back sitting on 20" rims ... on the front not sure yet maybe the biggest that will be possible is like a 285/35/ZR-20 ...
the wider tires should put down the power very efficiently and look extremely mean and aggressive and bad-*** ....combined with a 6-exhaust tip exhaust system and lorinser & kleemann body upgrades ... the car should scare away and **** off any bimmer ......not to mention smoke any of them .. especially if Renntech offers a computer upgrade for the car which most likely they will ..... 700+ HP anyone? sounds tasty to say the least

I hope the 2005's have all the upgrades ....

I think I can definitely say, you will definitely not have an SLR nose. (although you should be happy ). Upgraded DVD nav and sound system are all go though.

Now crocodile skin? Are you crazy. That would look **** and would be a waste of a poor croc. As for suede, or alcantara, all the way, get the roof and pillars done too. As for bodykits, rolling the fender, 20 inch wheels and so on, well worth it, although personally I think it looks good bodykitless, but there are some decent ones out there.

Oh, and please do not get the 6 pipe exhaust, the 4 is so beautiful, the 6 spoils the whole car! I'm warning you, dont get it.
