Picked it up...2004 SL55
My dad just recieved his SL 55 and all i can say is WOW... Driving that thing is the most amazing feeling... from the moment i touched the gas pedal i knew this thing was an monster.. when pressing the accelerater you feel this sudden rush and it feels as if the seat wraps around you while someone is pressing against you... before you know whats happening your doing 80 mph no need to hold the pedal any longer cause speed is climbing so fast and effortlessly... knowing you can have the power at any time you have to be responsible cause the car is dangerously fast.. my dad never owned a car like this and he is very excited and could not beleave the technology that went into building it.. the engine is by far the most incredible thing ever...
we got every option except pano roof which my dad did not like but i find it to be a nice option..
anyway just sharing an experience it is silver with the 22 spoke wheels..
by the way distronic and keyless go are amazing..
one more thing does anyone else have a radar detector in their rear mirror from the factory?? i had never seen it before and am amazed at how it works...

i don't know..
to tell the truth the car was ordered for somebody else and then he decided he did not want a 55 he wanted a 600 and bought a 600 and we took this one because it was exactly what we wanted.. i have no idea how he got the radar in the mirror i have never seen it as an option but my salesman or i should say my dads salesman RON COHEN from Ray Catena, awesome guy buy the way, said it is ordered for people who ask for it... wierd!

I have the same story when my dad purchased his. He was originally going with a 500, but the sales guy recommended that he should at least drive a 55. Later, he calls me up and tells me he got a 55 AMG! I couldn't believe it. The car was in stock, with 2 miles on it, so there was no reason to order it. We have the 22 spokes, no pano, and no distronic. But pretty much everything else.

wasnt sure it was you until i saw the "in for repairs". my sister told me something happened to ur car. i called up ray catena but they didnt sound like they were too helpful. i have another dealership holding one for me. 136k after taxes not bad. john wants to get the 300zx or the supra.. this should be fun , 3 of us can cause destruction on the streets of marine park.

Congrats. It is an intense car. I love mine. Is the radar detector in the mirror a V1's remote unit with the main unit on the windshield or behind the grill in the weaterproof box or is it something else? Pls take pics. I don't think this can't be factory installed.

yeah thats the same radar its amazing..
EDITED : on the radar i dont see a main unit i think it is built into the rear mirror only thing i see is a little box indicating numbers and dots indicating distance and some others..

bro the SL is Dads car i cant imagine you having one, no state would be safe... please dont abuse it like the 330 that thing was making noises i never heard before... its all good thou ill be trading in the 320 for the SLK 55 and Kleemann will have something to do with it but after a year of enjoying it stock...
as for john... he will never be happy till he buys a supra that can beat a skyline gtr... i dont doubt him he will get it soon.

that damn 330, such garbage, the best is i didnt even abuse that car, just fell apart. thats bmw for u.
that new slk looks sick. u know if u take ur car in for work , im taking mine in lol. even though 0-60 in 4.5 is just destroying everthing in the neighborhood, we need to find that 360 spider and show him whats goin on. i gotta see ur dads car.
i saw u a few days ago in the S, i was like i have to take out the 500 4 matic and race him, now we cant race till i get my 55. a few weeks!! cant wait.
i feel bad for the girlfriends if they are in the car, i know we never heard the end of it on valentines day after that 120 mph stunt we pulled down gerritsen ave. btw i broke up with her, so next time ill just have someone new lol. tell her gf she has to work extra hard for u now that ur gettin the slk, shes gotta keep the privelege to sit in it haha.

the 360 you see every once in a while is Harry's from Mobile Universe, i havent seen him in a while wonder if he sold it... you talking about the yellow one or the silver.. both really nice cars!
