Does anyone know if the basic body shell of a SL55 is different from a SL500 2003 on.
I have been told it is, but they can't tell me how or why.
If anyone can advise it would be appreciated.
I need the greey slotted microphone cover in the overhead console - to the right of the SOS button. It's a TINY part but the gaping hole in my overhead console is driving me nuts!

all the r230s body are the same except for the; front fenders and hood, and bumpers and lower rockers which are plastic.
They have to be the same or they wouldnt be a r230
Black series is all CF body
The front frame rails are different for V12 cars. They don't have the threaded holes to accomodate sway bar mounts that V8/V6 cars have. There's likely other differences as well, but this one is known for sure; if you do a coilover conversion on a V12 car and want to add a front sway bar, you'll have to weld on the frame mounts.

The 500 550 have different hoods and fenders from the 55 and 63
The hoods are different shape and the fenders have different side cut outs
and may have a little more fender flair. Im not sure about that

I don’t think that’s correct, I have a 500 hood on my 55 and there is no discernible difference. Not sure what the difference is between the fenders either. But fender flair seems exactly the same and cutout as well. I compared all 3 I have, and can’t tell the difference
