SL55/63/65/R230 AMG: Fitting CL or S65 wheels on SL65
from my research it seems similar period S65 has same size wheels but offsets are 44 front and 60 rear that would likely require spacers.
is anyone running these wheels on their SL65? if so what spacers? looks like from my calculation fronts will fit but rears will need something like a 20 or 30mm spacer.
signed: desperate and hopeless to get back on the road
i was able to source a rear 10” wheel to replace it but my other wheel is 9.5” wide
they should be able to fit the same size tire so i believe i will be alright.
TLDR: fronts are the same width, rears are .5” different curious if anyone thinks i’ll have trouble here i think it’ll be ok assuming same tire size
If the offset is substantially different then one wheel/tire is going to be positioned differently than the other with respect to the center of the car. This is a recipe for disaster and is a very, very bad idea. Things like lane changes at highway speeds are potential loss of control actions. And by substantially different I mean an inch or more. Probably look pretty goofy, too.
it looks like the difference between the 0.5in wider wheel is below i think the variance on same size tires is likely fine for the driving i’ll be doing. if trying to drive 120+ i’ll probably hold off until i have matching wheels.
Inner Clearance: 3.35mm or 0.13in less
Outer Position: extend by 9.35mm or 0.36in
i’ve already tested this on my front wheels because my 20” aftermarket wheels were not available in the same exact width so one was 9” and the other 9.5” front wheels were off by 0.5” for about 6 months before one of them was again damaged in the crappy roads of new york. tires the same size which is the most important imo. no control issues
i don’t push the car to 200mph+ i’m just trying to be able to drive rather than not able to drive at all.. i’ve gone through three 20” aftermarket wheels so far owning this car in 4.5 years
that’s part of why i’m sizing back down to 19”. thanks for your concern however i appreciate it

The front has a 5mm greater offset and an inch greater width. This will put the inside of the wheel about 11 mm closer to the suspension/chassis/body, almost half an inch. I have no idea if this is a problem but it needs checking or verifying, maybe by someone with actual experience with this configuration. Hard to measure as you need to have full suspension travel through full steering angle to make sure no contact at any point.
some curb rash to clean up but overall i am very happy with the result. i’ll upload a photo this weekend. 😎
