Stock wheels

My VIN lookup for my newly purchased 07 SL65 lists my stock wheels as 19" double spoke wheels. Does anyone have a pic of those wheels? Car came with 20" wheels. Thinking of going back to the 19's Also recommendations on tires?

Here is the info I use for my 06' SL65, I believe the 07' is likely the same (see attached catalog and refer to page 73). These wheels are called "Style IV AMG twin-spoke multi-piece". They came in one of two colors, Sterling Silver (most common) or Titanium Grey (my car). The part numbers for the two colors are different, but they are the same other than finish color. I can tell you these are hit and miss at locating. I ended up repairing a small crack in one rear wheel, because on the used market the only one I found ended up being fraudulently represented. If you do go used, make sure the seller isn't just a wheel broker. In other words, make sure they actually have the wheel in stock and fully reconditioned. I wouldn't offer a credit card unless they can send you a picture of the actual wheel in their possession. Expect to pay $800 to $900 per wheel for a used one. For grins I researched trying to get a new wheel and my dealer found none in the US & only 3 in Germany and my cost would have been around $2300. I would look for used wheels of either color and then find a reputable wheel shop and have them finish them accordingly. These wheels do in fact come apart and a good wheel shop will do that to properly polish the lip and finish the centers.

Style IV AMG twin-spoke multi-piece;

B6 603 1360 - front wheels Sterling Silver
B6 603 1361 - rear wheels Sterling Silver
================================
B6 603 1369 - front wheels in Titanium Grey
B6 603 1370 - rear wheels in Titanium Grey

When searching for used wheels be sure to check the cross reference for the part number. There is a Hollander number the wheel guys use and you will want to find that. You will also want new wheel bolts and I have a good source for quality German ones for much less than M/B. I'll put that in a follow up reply.

The R230 looks magnificent in these AMG wheels and I support your desire to go back to stock....Good Luck!!!

Ok, here's the wheel lug bolt info. I use his RAD bolts on my S500 w/Mono's as well. Contact Phil, www.otisincla.com
Good guy and shipping is quick. Tell him Tim sent you.

This is what you need to go back to stock on your SL65 w/19" AMG multi-piece

Forgot you also asked about tires. If there's two things I stay away from on forums it's tires and oil, since the replies can get ridiculous. But you did ask, so I run Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ on all three of my M/B's and they've performed well and look the part.

Thanks so much for all this information. I have the Michelins on both my SL's now Will probably stick with that.

Why does it say bodywork modification required?

Those other wheels listed in the catalog are wider in rear and different offset, so not sure about them. The ones in my reply are the stock items to fit standard body work.

There is so much truth in what you have said. I got bit by the wheel broker selling poor quality wheels.
