SL55 tops 200!!
My SL55 has been derestricted and has a small HP/torque increase....as well as AMG 19s w/appropriate tires for the car's weight.
On my drive to the Monterey historic races I felt the 'need for speed'. Aside from handling absolutely flawlessly (like a sports car should)....a top speed run was necessary while streaking through the desert....Since the speedo 'only' goes to 200 it was tough to figure the exact top speed...as the needle passes 200 quite easily....probably 202-205. I should have used the digital speedo.....ah...perhaps on the way home!
The car was still pulling fairly hard at 185...and just cruised to the double ton without any excitement or drama. Definitely a switch from driving my Fcars....where drama is the order of the day. But you gotta love both of them!

They are Michelin Pilot Sports and they are rated above 186 and will handle the car's weight.
I kept the tire pressure monitor in view most of the time and they gained 1-2 psi at each corner...even at top speed. So I can assume that the temp stayed down and there was no danger of a failure.
The car is essentially stock except for a little ECU work.
