Yes, the dealer can do these but as an after market. At leaste thats what my dealer said. They wanted $1000 to install and said its a pain to do because of all the wiring and talked me out.

Door sills ........

Hello "Mattnaz"

AMG Manufaktur is charging me 800 € for the items, and another 200 € (appr. 240 USD) for installation.

SO I really do not get it - that US dealers want to invoice you with USD 1.000,-- for the installation !! ( thats about 850 € ) Please discuss this with your workshop, cause for every work there are some indications at Mercedes-Benz, and THIS is a ripp off, indeed !!

Please - AMG at Affalterbach are not cheap in terms of working - an when THEY are charging 200€ NOBODY should charge more than these people !

Kind regards from France

Walter

Thumbs up

I just got mine fitted through my dealership at a cost of $A1800 last week. I reckon they actually look even better than I thought they would, a very trick piece indeed.

PS. I'm told install was a pain, my car ended up at the dealership for 2 days(my pet hate!)

Did your dealer employ a Kangaroo, assisted by a Koala, to fit them ?

I am not a mechanic, but from start to finish It took around 3.5 hours, and that included the time trying to decipher the German instruction sheet .

That fitting price is fair. If , as I said in my previous post, if it took me 3.5 hours, then someone that knows what they are doing could probably do the job in an hour.

Maybe a new Olymic Event ........ 'Sill Fitting', and then we really would see the times tumble.

I don't know about roos or koalas but I was hopping quite a bit that they had my car for so long . Mind you I asked them to check a steering noise (they didn't fix) and use the Star computer system to change the ABS settings and lower my car (they also didn't do). I just got the bill today at lunch time and the sills were actually $A1600, however they stung me with $500 labour on it. I had read that it was supposed to be straight forward to do initially on this forum before I ordered the sills, however I was told they had to go pull the back area behind the seats out to to get to the fuse box?

I don't mind doing things myself, particularly on my 'stang, but I was a little leary of going at my 4 week old 55. That miffs me that it can be done by a normal person in as little as 3hrs and they had the nerve to charge me $500...No wonder I have 90% of my mechanical needs taken care of independent of dealerships...

To get the panels out behind the seats is so easy when you know how.

Having done it once to fit the sills, it was a five minute job when I needed to take them out again, to get power to a DVD player, and plug it into the TV Tuner.

The next project is to work out how to get the door panels off, as I bought some Chrome AMG door 'Buttons' which pop up and down as the door locks and unlocks.

It's not that I needed Chrome ones, but I just fancied them as they appear in the manufaktur book too !!!

I can't see the pictures. There is a website where you guys could actually buy the AMG door sill for a lot less than what Mercedes would sell them for. I don't know if anyone has used these guys before. This is a link to their website here. Works out a lot cheaper.

This thread is eight years old, you can't expect the pictures to still be working.

Thanks for pointing this out. I didn't take notice of the year. That explains why the pictures are not showing anymore.
