V12 Engine mounts yea or nay?

Was thinking about changing my engine mounts on my 07 Sl65 this spring whether the need them or not (88k miles)
Doing some searches on the subject but they are mostly old threads.
So the question is: Can they be changed without removing the motor or can they be done by dropping the subframe?
Any new input on this?

I have the same year and make car with 40k miles. Mine look really good but I have no data on if they have been changed or not in the past. From my research the mounts are liquid filled and if they start to leak this is when you would replace them. I read somewhere that they can be replaced without removing the motor but it is a tight fit. My thought is if they are not bad do not replace them. However, if I need to remove the engine (which I might need to for another reason) then I would replace the mounts along with a lot of other seals, etc... because I do not want to be doing it again in the near future.

Wouldn't try to change them until they go bad. I've seen maybe 2 people say it can be done with engine in but dropping subframe however I pulled the engine to do mine. Doing them with motor in is going to be extremely tight and a pain trying to get hands and tools in.

I don't know if they need it yet and wont until spring as it is put away for the winter. It had 87k miles on it so Im guessing it might. Was just looking for piece of mind.

What R230 has mounts that last more than 60 thousand miles? Wishful thinking at 80K They dont have to leak to be bad/. Feel your steering wheel, feel the engine? Yes ? You need mounts.

I have a 2009 SL600. The motor mounts had leaked down enough back in 2016 to qualify for replacement under warranty, the car had 22,000 miles on it. Age as much as mileage is the enemy of the older V12 engine mounts. Same with my other two older V12’s. Five years and they needed replacement. I have no idea what the life is of the V8 mounts is, it might not be a good reference point.

My indie did mine (06' SL65) this summer for a leaking mount. This was an engine pull for me. Some have said you can drop the subframe and tilt engine, but I don't see how. If you can do both sides without taking the engine out, I would love to see a writeup with photo's on exactly how this is done.
