Stock SL65: 11.7 @ 126 !!
This car is insane!! I am posting from my wireless, will have full details in a few hours. Runs would be even faster but I could not get traction in 1st with stock tires.

You may say I told you so - at least about the trap speed. In this instance, I'm happy to have been wrong
I do have a vid, but no sound. A friendly shot it with his digicam at the track. There may be some better-fidelity vids coming soon. Will post shortly.

The first vid I've received (from a handheld digicam):

I'm looking through my timeslips, and this bad boy ran consistent 125 MPH in the traps. The one pass at 126 happened when the traction control didn't interefere as much as usual - I recall that I rolled into the throttle a bit more on that run. This beast has got POWER!

Hey Ben, This is Tony up in SF. I wish I could have made it up to Sacramento last night to see the SL make it's debut; but had other plans that kept me in the city.
Are you still going up on the 23rd? New drag radials? How about any other planned changes between now and then?
I can't wait to see the evolution of this wonderful machine. If you ever need a passenger to hold the video cam I'm your man with a steady hand
Cheers,
Tony

Ben, how late do the drags go on Saturdays? I want to come on the 23rd but will not be available until 8pm. Let's see...11.7@126 on stock tires...so... 11.4@124 on BFG's? A word of caution however, don't get too close to that 10 second mark or you'll have to fabricate the first ever SL65 integrated roll cage

The drags run 6-10PM, and yes, I think 11.4 @ 126-127 on the BFGs. I was having major traction problems in 1st, and the ESP was cutting power 1-2 times per run. With the DRs I will probably run faster because of the reduced traction woes.
And hell, if I get that car into the 10s I'll be pleased as punch.

10's will be no problem when the renntech stuff is on.

Nice tyres indeed !! I've only one question; Do you think the 18" rims will fit on the SL65 ? ( because the discs are bigger than at the SL55).
I tried to find some "Cup" tyres for track days for my SL65, but nothing available in the format I am in need of.
Thank you for your reply
kind regards from France

Walter - the 18" rear wheels look like they will fit, though I will know for sure once I put them on the car and take it for a spin this weekend. The front will almost certainly *not* fit 18" wheels because of the size of the brakes.
