SL65 or 04 Gallardo??

I am looking at a SL 65 that is black at Caliber Motors. I think I can get at 5-10K over and maybe sticker if I am very hard on them. I also am looking at silver one at Fletcher Jones. I am looking for a Silver Arrow Edition. I think it may have better resale value after a year. I only keep my cars for a year or so. So I like to have the car be where what I owe is what it is worth. Goal is to only loss my monthly payments and no more. My 04 E55 I put $1500 down on 4 lease and can sell car for lease pay off. E55 has spoiled me.

But last night my friend at DC Motors let me take out his 04 Orange Gallardo with the EGear trans. I can get this car for $155,000 and a payment of $1700 a month with $13K down on a 12 year purchase. Look at this car it is SICK www.dontdrivejunk.com only 1200 mile and all perfect. I want to use for our loan company advertising. Like:

Win a trip to vages in the Gallardo and suit at the Venican. Do a loan with us name goes in a hat after 6 months we pull the winner. The winner gets keys Friday night and return Monday AM. All expenses paid when there as well. We can advertise on car and with print media.

What are your guys thoughts?

My wife says it is my excuse to get a Lamborghini. She is right. but if it pays for it self good for me.

I know this is a little off topic, but when you sell your leased vehicle in California; don't you get stuck paying all the sales tax from the original lease value?

I would like to sell a car that I’ve been leasing and the payoff value is the same as the average bluebook price, but I was told that I’d also have to factor the sales tax into the price if i wanted to break even on the deal.

P.S - I'd definitely go with the SL65. There’s nothing better than having a convertible/hard-top with sub 12 second 1/4 mile times.

No. Call for your lease payoff and that is it. What ever they ask for is your payoff.

Those are hella good payments for the Gallardo. Tell your friend I'll give him $140,000 and $5k down if you end up buying the 65. Couple grand less if it's the black Gallardo; that one doesn't look too bad as well.

Let me know

If you look you can find several SL65's for list or in some cases a little below. I almost traded my sl55 for one but decided to wait because I think a 6 months to a year from now I can get a great deal on one.

Maybe that's how they pronounce "Murcielago" where he lives? Accento sobre la "e?"

It's all good! We understand it clearly!

I'll be able to drive in 3 months
Since the majority of people getting loans don't know crap about 1/4 mile times and power, (My mom is a loan officer, and her clients that I have met don't know much about cars) they will assume that the Lambo is faster, because it looks MUCH more exotic than the SL65. Generally people will think "Hey that's a Lamborghini, wow those are sooooo awesome, wow that guy looks like he will go all out for his clients".

The Lambo will initially be cheaper as well (if you can find one for anywhere near sticker), and since you will only have it for about a year, you don't really need to worry about the reliability.

Depends whether you want to impress people outside the car or people inside it. The Lambo looks faster, but the SL IS faster and offer s a convertible with a retractable hardtop plus ALL the toys and amenities that the Lambo does not have.

Don't know about US pricing, but an SL65 is $50k more than a Gallardo here but at this level, that probably doesn't matter. The Gallardo will attract far more attention, both positive and negative whereever you go, whereever you leave it. It's also a very loud car. Saw one take off from the lights in London this week and lots of people turned round to answer their question - what on earth is making that noise? The SL55 can be shy and retiring when you want it to be and I'm sure the '65 is no different.

The Gallardo has lots of character, while the SL is more reserved. Not sure if the SL is faster, the Lambos supposed to do 0-100km in 3.8, and the Lambo will definitely outrun an SL on a windy road, not to say the SL is incompetent. If you want performance, attention and great styling, get the Lambo. If you want comfort and yet good performance, a convertible, less attention and want to use it every day, get an SL65.

I'm a big fan of the Gallardo, and would take it over the murcielago or whatever anyday. I think the Gallardo will handle better, isnt ridiculously huge and looks far better, especially in yellow.

Most of what you stated is accurate except for the 0-62MPH times of 3.8 secs. That Lambo is the Murcielago or Barchetta but definitely not the Gallardo. The Gallardo (4.2+ 0-60MPH) will be slower than the SL65 AMG. It's slower than the 996TT AWD as well.

S600, SL65AMG, 230SL Pagoda, and 300SL Gullwing. (also have an X5 for my dogs)
It totaly depents on what you want from a car.

I{f you want an "I am here" kind of car, then the lambo's supercars looks will sufice.

If you want to be fairly inconspicuos, then to the untrained eye, you are just driving an SL. But you have all the power and performance of the Gallardo.

Just my 2 cents but I would say go for the SL65. Only because the Lambo screams look at me. Don't get me wrong I would jump at the oppertunity to get on a gallardo but at the same time I think the SL65 will be a hell of a more "one-of-a-kind" car? Does that make any sense???

get the lambo man . . if you like orange run with it . . i'd rather have silver or black . . but sl's are everywhere.. even tho' the 65s are official . . i'm just tired of seeing the SL body . . too small for my taste

thats kind of a strange give away for your business tho . . you want your clients to know you're making that kind of cash that you can send em off to vegas for a weekend while driving lambo . . ?

baller status

you **** with mortgages? got an office in sd? let me kno

If I were to read this I would cal call BS but 3 people were in cars and allot others on street saw it.

As you all know I have been looking at the 04 Gallardo and a friend has 5 of them now. He came over tonight in a yellow one with exhaust on it. As we pull out my track I see a SL then we get closer and it is a new SL65. DID Caliber seller there’s tonight??? Black SL65 it is fast then the Gallardo even on the run. Run it 3 times then ran ran the Supra which was all even races to 140mph. If any question let me know.

Do you want a lazy torque monster thats great for the odd squeeze for speed with the roof down....the 65 will do that.
Do you want total comfort and space and some typical MBZ luxury ....65 will do that.
Do you want to be discrete among other drivers and to pretty much blend in....the 65 will do that.

Do you want to be seen in a car....the Gallardo will do that.
Do you want a sharp and responsive handling car...the Gallardo will do that.
Do you want to run the twisty roads, and split you face with a smile...the Gallardo will do that.

My personal feeling is if you want an athletic car that is more involving and that shows a companies focus towards a true sports car or super car then the Gallardo is the choice with ease.

If you want a MB with torque/luxuary/quality the SL65 will be your girl.
The SL have more day to day function if that means anything?

Get a Ford GT and blow them both out of the water...but if I had to choose between the two...Lambo!

-just because everyone will drool over it more so than the SL65
-it is a better driver's car every where except the drag strip
-its a Lambo
