I would suggest the option if you were staying with factory wheels. If not IMHO it's a pain in the ***.

Why? If you change the wheels will it go off like there is a problem all the time? Is there any way to turn it off or is it on at all times?

Hi good morning

If you are using the regular AMG wheels there is no problem with the tire pressure indication system - I have it installed on mine and happy with it - especially when driving on the German Autobahn (sometimes) it gives me some "security feeling" ...

kind regards from France

I agree, TPMS is essential for the SL55/65. Keep in mind there is no spare, so this will give you early warning of any problems. Far better than a can of gunk on a wet winter's evening trying to seal the leak...

My SL55 came with the stock AMG 18s. I switched to the AMG 19" SL65 wheel and the TPMS works fine.

Oringinally the system was worthless, but after there was a software upgrade they work fine.

That's right, I put HREs on and it's a permanent fault code. I haven't had a chance to check with the stealer on deativating the TPMS. I bought the HREs before I had a chance to lay my eyes on the SL65 wheels .

I had the same problem with my HRE wheels. I spoke with the dealer and MBUSA and they both said they would not disable the TPMS and that my only option was to see if an independent shop would do it.

I've got 20" MAE's on my SL55 and the TPMS works just fine. Once the sensors have been put into the new wheels and the new wheels put on the car, you just have to "retrain" the system. It's in the manual and easy to do. If you need a walk through, let me know.

I'd actually argue that the TPMS is MORE important on after market tires and wheels. Larger diameter lower profile tires are much more prone to damage and handling problems if not properly inflated. I find myself regularly checking the pressure on my tires and adjusting as needed.

Actually this thread has made me call HRE and they advised me that the wheels are compatible with the TPMS. Unfortunately I didn't even think about the sensors when I got rid of the OEM wheels.

Not to thread crap but does anyone know where to get the sensors besides from the local stealers?

Ouch. That was an expensive oversight.
