Mercedes SL 73 AMG; How come i never heard about this AMG version

Apparently... Mercedes once produced a special SL AMG that I never heart of: SL 73. I found the specs:

7291 cc (!!) V12
0-100 km/h : 4.8
391.5 kw / 525.0 bhp @ 5550 rpm
750 nm / 553.2 ft lbs @ 4000 rpm
1975 Kg

Three questions:

Has someone got pictures of it?
And how come I never heard about this AMG version?
Are there more of these extraordinary AMG's that Mercedes made?

They were R129 cars. Custom built by AMG. I believe Brabus has one in thier showroom in LA.

Sl73...

Hello everybody

The number of the SL73 build by AMG was rather small. I am even more happy to know one of the current owners with such a beauty - in mint condition !

Brabus did some conversion with a 12 zyl engine as well - but these cars are not AMG original, therefore not named SL73.

kind regards

Walter

Hello MB AMG

I will look through my HDD and I think there are some more pictures about SL73 and as well SL60, which I took at our AOC meetings.

Wish you a nice day

Walter

walter, i really think the 7.3 was made by AMG in a small-series. pagani used this engine also for the awsome zonda S 7.3. producing 555hp and 750nm

SL73 Pictures

Hello SSpray
Hello Members

OK, If you really want to get some pictures of an SL73, I will organise a photo shooting with my friend in Germany who is driving one of this beauties. I was looking through my HDD already - but I did not find any good shots of HIS SL 73 ..... (dont kill me please :p ) For our community at AOC his car is really very nice -but not that extraordinary, cause we see him quite often.

Kind regards from France

Clyde ...

Both owners are already above 40 ... so we just enjoy our cars - we do not race them against each other.

How do YOU think this race would end ?? about 500 HP in the SL73 against 612 in a SL65 ? He would not dare ... hihi ... as written above - we love and care about our cars - we just have them to have some fun, thats all.

I promise, to take more pictures if there is really a request for this.

kind regards

Walter

Walter,

I for one, would greatly appreciate your effort in setting up a photo shoot of the SL73 (and your SL65, since the camera is out anyway )!

Kind regards,
Russell

I would love pictures. If you want, I'd be more then happy to play around with them as well in photoshop. I think it'd be a great exercise for me (and a lesson).
