I wanted to ask some of you about the P30 Package. I'm looking to purchase an SL55 AMG from 06-08 with the P30. Question is, what are my chances of finding one (in good to excellent shape), and how much more would these individuals be asking over the non-P30 Package?
Thank you.
Thank you.

I have a 2006 SL55 P30 that I just detailed out and was going to list on B.A.T. soon. It is very strange that you posted this, as I rarely look at this forum. I believe I am the second owner, and have owned the car for 10 years. The car has never had any paint work of any kind, and is in immaculate condition. I just took it in for service a few weeks ago to my local Merc dealer to have Gary, their lead AMG mechanic replace the valve cover gaskets and change the oil before before putting it up for sale. Aside from myself, he is the only person that has worked on this car during my ownership. I have developed a repore with him over the years and he has done all the maintenance or repairs I did not want to tackle on all of my AMG cars over the past twenty years. I absolutely love this car and it will be sorely missed. It is in superb condition with just 28000 miles on it. It is Tanzanite blue with a charcoal interior. A very rare car, in what I feel to be the best color combination. This car has been excellently maintained and needs nothing, and everything functions as it should. In answer to your question. On B.A.T. over the past year or so, P30 SL55's have ranged between the high 30's and 66000. Depending on condition, color, miles, maintenance, and options. Please massage me if you are interested in my car and we can talk further.
Yep, in researching, finding a Good/Excellent P30 with low miles could reach near 100k—lower miles, lower price. I kinda knew, going in, that the cost would be substantial. By the by...what is B.A.T? Bring a trailer?
Yes, B.A.T. is Bring a trailer.com. It is great site to buy and sell unique and high end vehicles. My go to for accurate market pricing. 100k is high. Maybe in a few years though.

I follow those on BAT. Nice ones sell for 35-45k. No need to spend stupid (911) money for one.
Kcmcuda,
Yep, that's a pretty sweet 07 SL55, but I'm not about to pay north of 60K for said car with the P30 package. Most likely, I'll pick up one without the package.

You asked what they were going for. That is the highest priced one that I have seen. The average is closer to 40k.

@Yankee_LT You catch this one that popped up in the marketplace the other day?
https://mbworld.org/forums/market/923376
Desirable year and spec, and the seller is asking reasonable money for it IMHO.

What I'm thinking is looking for '05-'06 models with the P30 Package and paying a little less than going with the '07-'08 models with the same package. Thoughts?
And thank you for the heads up on the link to the SL55. But I'm not going to spend 40K.

Thoughts? Being cheap on a used AMG R230 will only cost you more in the long run. 40k is reasonable for a very nice well cared for and sorted example imho. Spend less and you will only end up with more deferred maintenance hiding somewhere in the car.
These are legit 200mph (limit removed) super cars hiding in plain sight. For the life of me I can't fathom 911 prices when you compare what 40k buys you in Porsche land.
You do you...but would not hesitate to spend 40 for the right one.

As an 05 SL65 owner since 2019, knowing what I know now I would never buy any R230 older than 2007.Originally Posted by Yankee_LT

your mileage may vary.
I never stated that 40K was unreasonable. And why would purchasing an R230 older than 2007 be an issue, provided you find one with low miles, and get a very thorough PPI before purchasing? We all know the pros and cons of the R230s.
Yankee, not to muddy the waters, but my 2007 sl55 meets the some? Criteria of p30, 19” wheels, speeds above 156 mph (haven’t had it over 175). So i called mercedes with vin and they couldnt say that it had p30 but said it was an sl55 evolution and not that many were built that year. I got it 10 years ago w 33k for under $30k and i thought that was a lot. My brakes cylinders dont say brembo anywhere on them but they work really well. Who knows, maybe Evolution was just interior package. Just saying, there may be some non p30 vehicles cheaper that would satisfy you

If you want a SL55 equipped with the P30 package, it's pay to play.Originally Posted by Yankee_LT

My advice would be to find the cleanest non-P30 MY2007-2008 SL55 you can.
Being that the car has ABC 2, you can easily flash the P30 suspension software on it, which I can tell you from direct experience transforms the car.
I thank you all for the arguments you have presented and brought to the table to "school" me on what to expect to pay for an SL55 with the P30 package. As much as I would like to purchase the SL55 with the package, it might behoove me to either wait a while longer to make the purchase worthwhile or purchase the non-package.
Again, I thank you all for your knowledge and input on this matter.

There is a nice 2004 CL55 with only 41K miles for sale now on BaT with auction ending in 6 days. No mention of a B30 package however. Located in Pennsylvania. CARFAX lists 2 owners and one is likely the dealer selling it. So perhaps a one-owner car.
Question. Why would I be looking for a '04 CL55 in a thread titled P30 Package? Meaning that I'm looking for an SL55 with said package.

I follow this thread, have learned a lot about the SL55 and the P30 package and just noticed a 1-owner low mileage SL55 for sale and posted it here.Originally Posted by Yankee_LT

Sorry should have just started a new thread then.
Mrvedit,
Thank you for the heads up on the sale of the SL55, but your post stated, "There is a nice 2004 CL55 with only 41K miles for sale now on BaT with auction ending in 6 days. I responded to that statement, not to any statement about an SL55.

Darn, the BaT post is for a CL55, I wrote CL55, but in my mind it was a SL55. From the angle of the main picture, it is so similar to an SL. As I would say in my mother language "Dumb Kopf".
Apologies for the wasted posts.

Hey, and there was no malice in my first response to you. I have learned a great deal from you about the questions I have asked regarding my SL550.

That car with just 34K miles was bid to $29,000 but reserve was not met. Originally Posted by TripleDown

It did not have the P30 option but had the "Designo Espresso Edition" which was a $7000 option. Maybe some people would value a cosmetic color combination, but I suspect the low miles was the clincher.
Great looking SL55 with fantastic mileage. But asking more than the 30K, at least in my opinion, foerover seven owners, is asking a tad too much. Additionally, a third-party command center? This individual is not going to get what he thinks his SL is worth.
