Anyone know who makes these wheels?

Ok, so I FINALLY found an SL65 that I want. I will be purchasing it tomorrow. I really like the AMG wheels that it comes with, but I REALLY like these wheels. Does anyone know who makes these? I know I've seen them before, just cant remember the brand. I will most likely be selling my AMG wheels if anyone is interested. Dont worry, I wont price them like AMG does.

I think those are called MAE wheels or something, not sure, but those would totally ruin the an sl65 IMO...the best thing about that car (after the engine) are the wheels!!!

Well, I found a picture of them on an SL, what do you think? I think they look pretty good, Im just not too much into the HUGE lip on the front wheel. I guess I'll have to call and see if I could get a smaller lip in the front. I have a few other choices that I would like to look at before I make my final decision.

Different strokes for different folks. I personally don't like anything that overly occludes the brake calipers and rotors...

Ok, what about these? I like these A LOT. They make the SL look really aggressive.

Those are BBS LM's. I really like those too, but I think they're hard to get.

Have you had difficulties finding an SL65?

The top are MAE's, the second are BBS's.

I don't like either one, both are way too busy on a car that is beautiful enough. I think less attention should be paid to the wheels alone and as a car as a whole.

What price range are you looking at? I have a lot of stuff I need to get rid of.

Edit: What part of Houston are you in? I'm in Sugarland!

Yes, I've had a pretty difficult time finding the right SL65. I wanted Silver/Black, but all of the ones that were in that color were already sold. Also, MOST of the silver I had seen didnt have the interior that I wanted. The other option for me was to order one which was out of the question. I dont care to wait on a car. :p

Its not that I dont like the stockers, its just that I've seen SL's with aftermarket wheels and it looks really good, especially with a wheel with some kind of a lip. SHANK has one helluva stable.

As far as aftermarket rims go the HRE ones are alright.

From the 'pictures' thread:

If you aren't afraid of spending some money, I'd suggest either iForged rims or HRE's as they are unique, classy, and they come with a name. Very high end rims.

8-Series
840R

841R

843R

845R

847R

That is the top line for HRE's. You can find retail pricing @ www.hrewheels.com and you can contact me anyway to get discounts and specific fitament for your SL65.

iForged

Prices can be found on www.iforged.com same situation with the discount

I've considered HRE's, but a few people I know say that their customer service sucks (they know from personal experience).

Fair enough, I haven't dealt with them directly, I go through other people.

What about iForged?

If you have any other rim companies in mind, just hollar!

Let's see off the top of my head what I can think of:

Carlsson
Brabus
Lorinser
Wald
BBS
AMG
Kleemann
Champion Motorsport
O.Z.
Lowenhart
Maya
TSW
Racing Hart
Work (I know of a group buy going on this right now, it'll be amazing price)
Antera
Davin
MAE (the ones at the very top that you looked at)
And a few others. Depending on what kinda style you are looking for each wheel company offers a different taste.

IForged is OK, I believe they spawned off from HRE. Theres a lot of wheels that I like, just not too sure if they would look good on an SL. If you're ever over this way, let me know.

Probably not unless I come over to visit my gf, and knowing my parents.. that'll be a while

There is a new company called DPE, but I don't have anyone with contacts with them.

I take it she lives in Clearlake? How old are you? Well, in any event, if you're ever over this way, let me know and I'll let you take the SL for a spin since you've been helping me with all of these wheels.

She lives in Clearlake, I used to live up there as well but we wanted to move closer to family. I'll be turning 17 in a few days

Thanks for the offer, but knowing my luck, I'd end up having to help you find tires as well

I'm having enough fun with this wet weather in my RWD (yes!) LS Oh how I love rear wheel drive.

Yes, but the SL has traction control. Old cars don't.
The only reason why we still have that car, I won't let dad sell it
