Solution for SL65 Launch "Bog-down"
My wife and I both drive a "65" - CL for her and SL for me. I don't know other "65" owners experience this, but here's my story.
The SL65 kills or bogs-down the engine during a hard launch from zero - an interesting but a very annoying occurence, especially when the engine spools up to drive the turbos, ready to deliver the power/torque.
The computer, I am told, takes over the car.
I had a shop remap the ECU settings and now the car's launch can be somewhat driver controlled - so much better than stock setting.
Now its just a matter of getting the tires to grip better.

I drive my cars hard. I do not believe it is ESP/ASR.
ESP/ASR occurence is a feeling of locking brakes while the engine RPM still holds high.
"Bog-down" to me is a different phenomenon... more like engine stalling or choking - RPM or engine speed is heavily reduced. Your tach needle goes down to 1500 rpm.
Try a medium hard launch, spool the engine to about 2500 rpm then release the brakes while depressing the accelerator deeper in a gradual, linear fashion. Once you reach 4000 rpm (that is, with the ESP off and your tires are slipping), your engine will stall and reduce RPM to about 1500.

MBWorld Fanatic!
Tried it this morning on the way to the gym.
My car does not reduce RPM, the tires are still spinning in first and if you are manually shifting in drive it will sometime short shift.
