No SL63 enthusiasts
Amazing to me that there are so few SL 63 enthusiasts on this board. When I had my SL 55 a few years ago there were fifty times,or more, the amount of posts. Clearly a much better performing car than the SL 55, the SL 63 is such a phenomenal machine it really deserves more love. I have an Lexus LFA that is just an outright ridiculous amount of fun to drive, but as an everyday daily driver the SL 63 is nearly as much fun and clearly more civilized. The amount of tongue on tap in essentially unprecedented. So why the lack of support in this forum?? My only guess is that the price of admission is pretty steep and therefore limits the amount of owners. Plus at the price point of a new SL63 many entusiasts will choose to spend their money on a more sport centered ride. I for one will be upgrading to some 20" wheels just to give it the more sport oriented look it deserves. I know it will never match the California in the looks department but I want to get it looking as nice as possible. Any other SL backers out there? We need to drum up some more outright enthusiasts for this great car!!

The cars are pretty new and most under warrantee. So not many people are doing mods on them yet. All the r230s are almost 10 to 15 yrs old and alot of them around for 20K$
The 231s are 100K$
You can use 20" wheels if you get the right combos but i think you will always have problems. if you look at every 230 and 231 ever made, youll see that MB never put 20 on the front, they do put 20 on the rear and always 19 on the fromt.

There's plenty of SL63 (and to a lesser extent, SL65) enthusiasts on here, it's just not an active forum. I rarely visit because of time, but if the forum was busier, I'd probably check in once a week.
Love the scream of that LFA. But I also love the snarl of the AMG V8.

I test drove Mellow's car. Nice! Not my preferred color combo though and I prefer the way the V12 delivers it"s power. I do find it encouraging that there is little discussion re: the 231. It speaks to good reliability and overall satisfaction. I prefer the 230 styling, but when the time comes, I will bite the bullet on looks and be happy with a newer 231. Have a great day!

last week I drove from tpa to key west. I saw at least 20 r230 cars. especially between naples and ft lauderdale. I saw only 1 R231 on the road the whole trip.
thats the popularity of the R230 and the lower ratio of newer r231s

I test drove a GT the other day. I thought the low roof line of the front windshield was too low for me. In addition the ride was much firmer and the exhaust much louder. I really wasn't expecting it thinking it was more of a grand tourer. That is what put me on the SL track. The hard top convertible is nice by comparison to a cloth top (e.g., Porsche Cab) that seems to always show the frame rubs which seem to never go away. If you look closely you can even see them on brand new cars.
I too would love to see more enthusiasts contributing to the this forum.
