delivery date/price?
Dealer allocations already done...some dealers get a copy; ?20 dealers have been allocated two copies
Pricing seems to be a moving target w/mixed rumors (would guess AMG is still evaluating pricing as it closely observes the unfolding high-end recession and credit crisis in major mkts like Manhattan/Greenwich/BevHills)....am hearing price talk closer to $230K-ish...

Mkt for 599 (arguably most direct comparable) has weakened notably in past 4-6wks, despite limited recent production allocations for US....but perhaps not surprising as many early 599 owners (and repeat F buyers) have moved on to Scuds
Suspect 65Blk will be difficult to obtain (at MSRP) vs robust demand at a handful of well-regarded dealers w/deep repeat cust bases in SiliconValley/BevHills/Greenwich regions, but will largely languish on dealer lots across rest of US....
Price is quite steep. Kinda lame I think is to expensive for an SL but you know if people pay than good for them.
Looks hot though.
If it was 230kish he probably already take it and wont consider it. He is considering just because it's in the 300k range he might not take delivery of it. If it is 230kish he for sure will take it.
So I think it's going to be between $300 - $330,000 in the US.

$299,000 price tag not including d&d or gas guzzler.
175 units will be produced, not the larger allocation they were talking about.
There will be a welcome kit included which will contain the following:
-A custom tailored indoor display cover hand fitted to the aggressive lines of the Black Series addorned with the Affalterbach crest.
-The cover will come in a hand built presentation box apholstered in the same black AMG exclusive leather in the black series. It will also have coordinating grey contrast stitching accompanied by a letter hand signed by Ernst Lieb.
-An engraved plate showing the individual VIN# and an AMG engine plaque signed by the same master tech who assembled the engine in that car. I should be seeing the brochure in a few days. My clients car will hit the port 1/1/09. It actually is slated as the first production SL 65BLK.
