SLK/R170: DVD screen installation-dashboard

DVD screen installation-dashboard
Is it possible to install a dvd screen in SLK? Some dvd screens can be folded mechanically and hidden in the dashboard.
Is there any chance to use the little drawer for this purpose?

(my JVC mp3 CD player supports DVDand has an output .. so i need only a screen..Maybe i should have written this in the audio electronic systems section but i get more quick respond here where people are more friendly and skilled )

Yes a couple of guys from the forum have done it before. I cannot remember off hand if it were here or the mbnz.org forum. Either way, do a search. I think he's handle was neekster.
He installed it in the space where the cup holders go.

Xyzpl , the system you installed looks cool , Alpine has high quality products and you made a very good choice.
I have JVC as i told before which plays normal Cds ,mp3 and dvd.Also dvd controls are on the same deck.I think there are other brands which sells the screen without a deck and i need one of those.So the placement will be different than yours but thanks again for the pics which gaves me courage to install a DVD

The bottom piece was custom made. The whole installation was $800, which included the following:
Alpine head unit
Alpine DVD player
Alpine Navigation
Alpine CD changer
TV tuner
2 Amps
6 speakers
And all the wires and materials needed.

You mean whole thing was cost $800??? with installations???
Can you still get all those items with same price???
May be without the installations but with that custom made bottom part since I live in New York...
As far As I know just head unit and DVD player might cost more than that...

sorry, i guess i was not being clear...
the installation "ONLY" cost $800, which included installation for those parts. I guess you can call it labor charge...
parts cost me a tad over $5000...
