Looking for a fun Car... SLK?

Hi guys.. I am looking to get a "fun" car and thinking of a pre-owned SLK if it can be had for a decent price.
If non-AMG, manual is a must. Please share your expericneces with the SLK and if you have one for sale, maybe an offer as well?

Cheers!

By the way, i am willing to travel to pick up.

The old SLK was never regarded as a good handler.... If you want a fun car take a look at a mini cooper or Porsche boxster.

SLK a "dull" car?

As a former owner of an S2000, I can tell you there is plenty of "fun" to be had with an SLK, even though it was not designed for the race track. Go for it!

I think my SLK is pretty fun! You'd be in shock and awe if you saw how I drive on a daily basis and I have YET to squeal the tires! It's fun, not terribly expensive (used) and if you want to turn heads...drop the top at a red light :p

I dropped the top while my friend was driving and the light changed while it was going down but we couldn't move. Not only did we turn heads we honked a lot of horns too!

4 wheeled car.
Back when I had a Chrysler Sebring for a week ( no comments on it please), I ALMOST opened it up when I was on the freeway LOL. DUMB ***!
I took one latch off and when I saw what was happening I realized it wasn't a good idea.

i recently discovered that the limit on moving while the roof comes down or goes up only applies to automatic tranny cars!

Go figure.

Not true. My manual inhibited operation at just 2-3 mph. What do you base your comment on?

Pulling out of the store the other day, i am sure I went more than 5mph coming out of the parking lot while the roof was coming down. Perhaps the previous owner installed your mod?

I have a manual transmission as well. The roof deactivtes at about 3 MPH.

I installed the BVRC, but decided not to connect the override for the speed limitation for the roof.

Before pressing the top button

I believe you need to put on the parking brake first.

I suppose if you pulled the hand brake lever part way up, and then started driving, it might work. But it would likely add wear to the parking brake.

Nope... parking brake was down.
Makes me suspect that the previous owner may have modded the car a bit. Anyway, i'll be ordering the remote vario mod pretty soon.

Yeah I don't have to have my parking brake up...it doesn't even have to be in park to work.
