Entertainment package plays MP3 DVDs!
Dunno if this is old news for some, but in my last thread someone said it might be able to do it. Well I just tried it with a Ritek/TDK, put about 3GB of music, and it played just fine. To me, that's one of the coolest things ever hahaha. Now the only point of having an ipod is the ability to update your music collection whenever you want without burning more DVDs.

You can always burn DVD+-RWs to update your collections, which totally makes the ipod obsolete.

could you elaborate on what entertainment system you're referring to and if that was installed into your 98 clk. I'm looking for a system but have yet to make a decision. So looking for what's good on the market.

Not in his CLK. There is a factory option for the R171 SLK called the Entertainment package. Apparently if you throw in DVD's with mp3 files on it, it'll play them.

Wicked cool!

Hey Ricky, do you know if midget fidger has a new slk in addition to his slk? I thought he just rolls in a slk based on his profile. Slk's are sweet. saw a few today at the San Diego meet. sweet ride.

Just tried DVD-RWs and they work. Since this rendered the CD changer useless, I tried to take out the CD changer, but the COMAND system wouldn't work without it. Has anyone tried this? Do I need the StarDiagnosis computer plugged in to disable the changer?

dunno...maybe you can try removing the changer then going to your dealer like "??? dunno it just wont work" hahaha

The Nav system which is a DVD player is in the trunk, this is not what they are The single slot CD player in the dash above the COMAND screen is actually a DVD player (audio only in the US), despite the US documentation stating is was a CD only.

Yeah, it's such a great design compared to the other models where you had to keep the nav disc inside the in-dash part and all your music in a changer.
