Springs? Who? What? Where? How much?

My wife is the proud owner of a silver SLK 350. I am a tweaker when it comes to cars. She Bought it Sunday, I ordered 19" wheels and tires for it Monday, and clear side markers for it this morning. After looking at many of your fine rides, I have determined that she MUST HAVE the car lowered. Who has springs here, what do you recomend, where did you get them, and how much were they?

Thanks in advance for any help (or crap) you send my way,

KMAKAZ

quick recommendation...

update your profile to include where you are. also, indicate what wheels and sizes you're running. it could be a factor.

Sorry about that, i will get it figured out. The wheels are AMG CR1's 19" x 8.5" in the front with 235/35/19 and the rears are 19" x 9.5" with 265/30/19. I don'r really want to kill the ride, but i have used H&R springs on cars in the past and have been real happy with the ride. I just don't want to have this thing dumped so it bounces and scrapes on cigarette butts!

I think your wheel and tire sizes should be fine. many here have installed brabus springs and have compared them to MB sport springs. I might be able to give you some feedback in a week or so. I am having mine installed soon. The big question for most with those sizes is whether or not it will rub. Stay tuned.

I have Brabus springs and it feels like stock, looks much better lowered. $400 w/o installation. Brabus lowered it about an inch but with 19" it gets you back to stock height w/o the ugly fender gap. H&R is a little stiffer and lower. If I could do it again, I will probably get H&R, they are about $240 on ebay.

Really? I hope the Brabus springs arent too soft or softer than the 55 springs. I dont want my car to drive sloppy.

When I'm going slow, it feels softer than stock, when I go faster, it feels like the OEM springs. It's comfortable and 9 out of 10 would love the ride but it's a little too comfortable for me. I like it a little more stiff.

Anyone ever heard of ST or Sport Tech springs? I am familiar with H&R, Eibach, and a fet other big names, but not Sport tech.

That concerns me a bit. So, how does it feel when you corner. I understand that the springs are just one component of the suspension but still. Does it seems like it's softer in the corners? I hope not.

Actually, I have not tried to corner hard b/c of the rubbing, but it does seems a little soft for me when I do corner slowly. Not to my taste. The only reason I got Brabus b/c of the OEM ride and was afraid it might be too low with H&R's. And from experience sometimes H&R is too stiff for everyday driving. You might like it, who knows.
