SLK Car Cover purchase: Retail or online?

I see that the SLK car cover is 200 bucks on the MBUSA website... is this the best deal I can get?

Or can I get one online for a better deal (consider the shipping charges too)

THanks,
shahedC

My friend recommends me with this.

It's only 20 bucks. I park my car in a basement parking, so a cheap car cover will do. Unless u park ur car outdoor everytime, a $200 car cover would be a risk of somebody stealing it.

Wow, i'll take the 20-dollar one anyday... don't feel like shelling out $200 everytime someone decides to take it (^&%*&%^@ *******s...)

If you're willing to pay around $130 for the M-Benz custom car cover for your new SLK, then I would try the following:
Get with your SLK sales person and tell them you want them to throw in the car cover for free as part of the deal. He/she will likely decline to do this, so then you ask them to use their employee discount to buy it for you, and you simply reimburse them for their out-of-pocket expense. Since it costs them nothing, most sales staff will agree to your request. In the M-Bz dealerships that I've done business with, the employee discount is about 35% on parts and accessories, but no discounts on labor. Of course, you will want them to give you a firm price quote first, then give them the OK to purchase the car cover for you.

I've successfully employed this bargaining tactic on several occasions.

If the car is not clean when you put the cover on then all you will be doing is dragging grit all over the clear coat as you put it on and take it off.

good point... I will only use the cover when the car is clean and is parked outside...

what about rain and snow.. we get about 1 or 2 days of really bad snowfall in our winters... am I better off letting the snow fall on the car and leaving the cover aside?

(I don't have covered parking at my condo.... my gf's has a townhouse with a garage, but it's in a nearby town, and we barely go there anyway, so I don't see us going there during a snowstorm)

don't worry about it Voize... if anyone was seriously accusing you (Easy-SLK!), then he already apologized... that makes you the better man, since you never did anything wrong to begin with..

peace!

You should've said "too much" instead of "to much"... from your English, I take it you are some sort of foreigner? And... oh wait, see what you have done to me... it is rubbing of on me... I mean, rubbing off on me...

I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.
