1) module doesnt light up

2) the security (key) now wont function for lockin and unlocking

3) error message indicating "malfunction, bring to workshop"

4) where to actually put the screw about that "earth" cable??

1. no power to module. check your crimping tool or buy another crimper. it is cheaply made

2. sounds like the canbus is not put back together correctly

3. that error indicates not a good connection as the power goes through the unit and back in. see answer 1

4. put the earth cable (ground) to any metal screw

i went to ace hardware. i am talking about that little blue or red thing to attach the wires together. either that or you selected the wrong red wire and it has no power

my light initially did not come on either til i recrimped it but good!

9moon, sorry to hear you are having problems with the module installation.
I suggest to borrow a multimeter from a friend, neighbor, work, etc., poke the red wire in the same point you crimp it before and check that you have 12V between this and the ground (metal body of the car). If not, you have to try another red wire. Also there are 2 screws coming from the floor of the car outside the black plastic box with the canbus connectors (the screws might be painted same color as the car). Attach the ground wire to any of these screws and secure it with the nut that came with the module. Also check that you have a short between the nut and the ground.
Did you check this thread?

Pages 11 to 28 are very helpful and offer lots of pictures.

"Now, using the proper tool, screw the earth (brown) cable into one of the screws on the body of the car. Fasten it in place with the lug nut and M4 cap which is provided. The earth cable must be well fastened in place so that the contact is complete. If it correctly touches the screw, the red and green light on the module should light up. If the leds do not light up, find another place to fasten the cable to, or scrape at the screw before attaching the earth cable so that proper contact can be created (the screw seems to be coated with a little paint or protective product that seems to cause a bad contact otherwise)."

.. i believe this is where the problem all started... we couldnt find a place where to fasten the earth cable.. but even then, why would my car key lose its power to lock/unlock the car???

The end call button is to activate the roof module, one click and blink for activation IIRC. two blinks for deactivation, make sure you wait a few minutes before trying to activate, sometimes it takes a few minutes for the module to sync.

The sequence is the same as it is w/o a vario roof module.

Two quick clicks backward on the roof switch, rolls down all windows. Then use the door buttons to roll the front (big) windows back up. This leaves the little back windows down.

hey fellas.... finally got done last nite.. still had some problem tho cause we couldnt find a place to put that earth cable.. the screw on the floor didnt help, so my friend installed by the speakers.. anyhow.. everything went well..

1) 15 yards distant from the car and i was able to open up the roof

2) 25 mph was also the maximum speed where i can open the roof.. no complaints

3) the push of a button for a second also worked.. i was really happy w/ this..

4) the auto windows up/down also worked...

BUTTTTTTTTTT.... THE TOP WONT GO UP!!!!!! WAHHHHHHHHHH!!! the only time the top would go up is if when im inside the car and pushin the button.. aside from that, i cant close the top w/ my smart key!!

i know we did everything right... anyone ever ran into this problem before???

Glad to hear you got it to work, it's about time.

Try to press the lock button 3 times, watch as your blinkers blink 3x, then the top will go up, otherwise you might have a defective module?

I don't think it is, as everything else works fine. try pressing the button 4x, one to lock, 3x to raise roof, I don't know, try anything you could think of. Email Piecha, see what he think it is. that's the first I've heard of that problem
