SLK/R171: SLK350 vs BMW Z4 3.0i
1. Handling the SLK and Z4 have different philosophies of handling both good
2. Slalom both did well through the pylons, but the ESP of the SLK holds it back a little more compared to the more aggressive Z4 handling
3. Marterstrecke – you got me on this, but neither are in their element although the SLK is a little better – I think it may have to do with ride.
4. Braking from 100KPH SLK = 37 meters Z4 = a half meter more
5. Sprint test SLK = 6.0 seconds Z4 = 7.0 seconds
6. Acceleration from 60 to 100KPH SLK = 6.0 seconds Z4 = 6.4 seconds
7. Interior noise @ 100Kilometer per hour quieter SLK= 69dbA and Z4 = 71 dbA
8. Top Speed SLK = 252 KPH while showing 260 on Speedo Z4 = 236 KPH while showing 245 on Speedo
9. Gas Mileage SLK needed 12.4 liter Super for 100Kilometers giving a range of 565 kilometers from the 70 liter tank Z4 took 12.0 liters with a range of 478 kilometers from 55 liter tank
Bottom line, they overall picked the SLK over the BMW.

the "marterstrecke" is a really bad-*** road, it shakes the car like hell. here you can see if there are weaks in the suspension and bodywork.

I would rather say it's pretty even between Merc and BMW in European carmags..
Last time in AMS the S-class beat the 7-series overall. Interestingly it there also beat the BMW in the traditional BMW-area "Fahrdynamik" (something like "driving-performance").
I wouldn't mind if the SLK had side vents like the SL500 though
