2006 SLK 55 AMG
Attn: Harris

Harris:

Someone posted a list of AMG (sport upgrade or package) that mentioned something about brakes, LSD, suspension , brakes etc (I can't find the thread, but I think you mention you can potentially get)

What do you think the "special" AMG suspension (Nurburgring) will be like? Compared to Carlsson RS/PSS-9 (obviously for SLK55)....Any idea? Worth the $$

What about the brake upgrade? Is it bigger brakes or different compounds/Ceramic etc?

Any pics of the upgraded brakes, wheels, etc....I think there is also going to be something like Alcantara steering wheel, carbon fiber trim etc.

What gadjets do you have in your wife's SLK 350? Any pics?

Thanks,

JMC

As far as I know, there will never be an AMG LSD for SLKs (R171 or R170). The wheel base is too short and it will be too dangerous to have it on such a small car.

The Nuerburgring suspension is a spring/shocks combo. It is NOT a coilover system. Nobody will know the specs, AMG will probably going to say the valving and spring rates are different. How different? Nobody knows until you put them on the car and test it.

I know nothing about the better brakes. I only know it will be different (better) than stock 55 brakes.

Yes, alcantara steering wheel is part of the package. CF trim, should be also. I dont know if this PP car is the same as the one I saw a few months ago.

My wife's SLK...pls read this: https://mbworld.org/forums/slk-class-r171/106931-post-pics-slk350-aftermarket-parts.html

Where's the proof that a LSD on a car the size of an SLK would be problematic? I call BS on MB

Kleemann offers an LSD for the SLK....I can imagine they will do something like this w/o R&D with good success.

The proof is they dont offer it on SLKs. Period. If you think its BS on MB, so be it. They offer LSD for most AMG models except SLK, S, CL, ML and G. I see no reason why they would hold up on SLK if they think it is feasible to do so. Nobody in here is qualify to challange the engineers at AMG. I think they know what they are doing more than anyone else in the industry.

Are you sure the G doesn't have one? Just curious.

Yes. Quite sure. The differential on the G is totally different than any other models.

the reason why they don't have lsd is because, slk's are chick cars! and they think chicks won't drive them hard!!

I am thinking about adding some kind of LSD to mine but I am not sure if it is a good idea neither. I am worried about possible damages to other components!??? I know all the major tuners are offering the LSD for the SLK55, Kleeman, Carlsson, Barbus. Lorinser... I don't think they would offer it if it wasn't safe.

I think it is just a matter of money for MB/AMG. I mean they don't offer a fraction of what the tuners are offering. It is the same for any other brand.
