Is the SLK55 a "Chick car"?
I don't think so. Most chicks that I meet have NO clue what AMG cars are...let alone do any chicks that I know drive them. A few days ago, I went to pick up one of my male friends at his house (in my SLK55) and he was *****ing about having to be in my "girly car". WTF.

I agree the older style SLK was a chick ride IMO...not the new bodystyle. Your male friend needs to be more secure in his masculinity.

It is for sure a man's car. Faster then most of the cars on the street with 5.5lt. V8 which generates more then 360hp.

A "girlie" car...
I fear there is some misconception that if it goes faster then it cannot be a girlie car. I do not agree. Speed is only one factor. I think the SLK is a "girlie" car - it is small sexy roadster - but then who cares if it is - doesn't make it at all bad after all if I had a girl as sexy as my car i wouldn't be complaining. Plus I'd rather have a merc slk than any of the other dinky hard top roadsters the other brands are doing nowadays. As for the SL - well that is just a bigger car and hence has the label masculine. But to be honest with the small parking spaces and garages that we seem to be given nowadays it is not necessarily a versatile car. In my opinion - get an SLK for everyday driving (girlie or not it still makes a great practical roadster for everyday use) and an aston martin for weekend

then would you explain what a "girlie car" is? I think it is something that does not have enough power and speed and also something does not look so muscular..... am I totally wrong here?

Where I live in So Cal, almost every SL I see is driven by some trophy wife or girlfriend, like because they only know what their friend's have and want one too and they think if they just get an SL they are getting the best MB offers.
That being said, if its a SL 55 or 65 or obviously tuned in some way, than its usually driven by a guy. And, in this way, the SLK 55 is usually driven by a guy while most of the 350s I've seen are being driven by women.
Plus, I am used to guys telling me that the SLK55 is their dream car. Exact words. And that's for the guys who have even heard of the SLK55. Now that its been on the cover of so many magazines, more know, but before, for a guy to know about the car showed he knew what was going on. For a girl to even know it existed, and then to actually get on the list for one, and then actually own one - remember its still hard to see one at the dealership - that is way rare. So how can it be that the SLK55 is a chick's car?????

Sad but true, 99% of the population have no clue what 5439cc is or what ///AMG means. They see it as a small, cute little car that is perfect for women no matter what size engine/cosmetics. Some people might even go so far as calling an SL500 or 911 cab a girls car. The problem is this: it is a convertible & most chicks I know love convertibles. Sad but true
Personally, I love convertibles yet hate the stigma attached to most of them as chick cars. The only way to maybe combat this is by getting black as an exterior color. I dislike black because it hides the lines of the car.
Look at the positive: Since it is a "chicks car" you will have plenty of chicks looking at you and asking for rides This is exactly what happened to me in my SC430!

So what is a "girly" or "chick" car? One that is attractive to women? Great!! Is it a car that looks sleek and sexy? Great again. I bought an SLK55 mainly because I liked its looks. The performance is icing on the cake. If it looks girly to you, that's your own opinion and it doesn't matter because I got the car I wanted and I enjoy driving it. What does it matter to me if someone in his mind thinks it's a chick car. Maybe the only way to avoid the "girly" or "chick" look is to buy a pickup truck. No thanks.

well i'm a guy and i'm looking to get SLK 280 when i get rid of my ML. also to make things even more interesting, i'm getting delivery on the new MCS next month for a daily driver. does that make me girly or homo? whatever you guys think i guess... lol
a clueless girl can drive these nice fancy cars but that doesn't mean crap. i see women my mother's age driving 911s (automatic shift and everything..) that didn't know what the heck was going on on the road. yes it is pain to look at the precious metal being wasted but what can you do?
bottom line, the more women drool over SLKs, the more chance to get in their pants. :v

The SLK55 is one BadA$$ car, chick or no chick driving. So no, it's not a chick car.
However, my personal list of "chick" cabrios:
1) VW cabrio (any)
2) Audi TT cab (sorry, but it's the Australian Gay Car of the Year 2004)
3) R170 SLK-Class -especially in red or yellow
4) Lexus SC430 - aka sexy lexy
5) Mustang Cabrio - previous generation non-GT model
6) Mazda Miata - or whatever they're going to call it next
7) Honda S2000 - quick but not very "manly" - reminds me of #6
8) A couple of others I can't think of right now.....
