Any Corvette Encounters?
I must confess, I was looking at getting a C6 until vetoed by the wife. We had a C4, and she is done with Corvettes. Since then, we've enjoyed an SL500 and E500, so she OK'd the 55.
I am not saying the c6 does not have any handling, the SLK 55 AMG has it more.

Was it a Z51 C6 or stock?
I've driven a Z51 C6 back to back to back with a BoxsterS and the SLK55 and the Vette just mutilated it. It felt perfect.
The SLK55 though, I'd still pick in the end, felt the most complete. Stigma comes with all those cars, and the SLK55 was the one that pleased me the most.
Plus, you cannot argue with a hardtop convert!

I believe the C6 Coupe is a better overall handling vehicle than the SLK55. It has a higher lateral G load, weighs a bit less, but may not be as tossable due to its larger size (after my test drive - this is my impression - although I could not wring the C6 out with the Sales guy next to me
). The SLK55 likely has the edge in handling to a C6 vert, just not the Coupe. Overall, C5 & C6 Vettes have always handled very well.-Matt

C5 & C6 Vettes have a near 50/50 weight distribution, have more tire, weigh less, and with a competent driver, will likely edge out an SLK55 in cornering. Z06's are even more nasty - they are unreal on a track (pretty close to my RX-7 in handling).

Yup. Having 405 Hp, great handling, & good braking in a car for $50k is a an excellent performance bargain. I just think GM should spend another $3k in the dash & door materials (it would then be darn near perfect!).
