My Obligatory "It's Here" Post
Whoo hoo! The long, long, looooooong months of waiting are over; today I brought home my new baby: A 2006 SLK 55 AMG, Orion Blue w/ Ash & Black interior. Plus every add-on under the sun.This may well be the ONLY 2006 Orion Blue SLK in the U.S., since I had to special-order it. And while I had the opportunity to buy a silver one months ago, I have to say it was well worth the wait. The Orion Blue is a truly amazing color, especially in direct sunlight. Wow. Just... Wow.
Here's a couple of quick pics. I'm sure I'll take lots more over the next couple of weeks.
Man, what a fun car.

Thanks for the compliments! I'll try to get some interior shots today. It's amazing how much more sporty the two-tone interior makes the car look.
Technically, we can't, but... well, money talks. Here's something that no MB dealers seem to know (or at least claim they don't): You can custom-order ANY MB color. The secret password is "Special Order PA-dash-1" (plus $1150-1500, and an extra ~2 weeks to the build time).

The car did NOT come with AMG-branded floor mats, however. Also, the COMAND boot-up screen is the standard MB logo, but I've seen instructions on the boards on how to change that.

Looks beautiful!!
They owe you the correct floormats, mistake on their part (or laziness!).
The one add-on your gonna want (or do without) is the clear wind deflector, the standard "pantyhose" gets old real fast (especially at night).

I'll bring up the floormats again when I go in for the "evaluation" (I'll have more leverage then).
Yeah, El Cheapo Windscreeno had grown old after about 5 minutes. The effect is has on headlights at night is especially disorienting. I think I'll just wait until my next paycheck before buying my accessories list, 'cause things are suddenly a little tight after this purchase.
So far, I'm planning to get the Plexi Wind deflector and the Side Cargo Net. Anything else I should plan on buying?

Very nice!!! Just picked one up(unexpectedly) on Saturday!!! Wait to you get to drive it on some nice roads!!! I took mine out yesterday in the mountains and had a blast using my right foot to steer around the tigh corners!!!
