just wondering...when you have the AMG startup logo and have the audio screen selected in the instrument cluster...set the radio to AM and tell me wether you still have the AM Frequency displayed in the instrument cluster.
On the W211s it no longer displayed the AM frequency in the IC when the comand starts up with AMG.
greetingz,

SLK 55 AMG: this is how you do it (have not tried it yet)
get into the region menu
press 5 then 3 then 7 and hold all three down.
a hidden menu will appear.
select AMG R171 ECE
now i played around with it last night but how to get into the "REGION MENU"?

Can you even tell me where the button are located and if I have to hold a certain amount of time, etc? Thanks!
Don't have to hit the R button.
Just press the 3 other buttons and leave press for 5-8 seconds and a display will give you the options. I think there are 3 or 4 options but mine said R171 AMG USA.....let me see if I can find another post that had the pics of the display.

Be aware, if you mess this up (and at least one other forum poster has) MB will CHARGE you to fix it, and in the worst case claim you need a need head unit for big $$$.
Turn ignition on so Screen is on (car does NOT have to be running). Press AND HOLD 5, while holding, 5, press and HOLD 3, while holding 5 and 3, press and HOLD 7 (i.e. you are holding all 3 now). Wait ~ 10 seconds.
AGAIN, use at your own risk. This gets you nothing but a change in the startup logo that last about 2 seconds. That's it.
Here is the TSB (that tells MB service to charge you to fix, and shows how to do it).

To get it too "stick" (ie. stay), you need to press OK after changing.

He is correct!! I used the second page on the posted TSB and it worked perfectly. I have to say that the first time I turned the car on and nothing; I did it again and nothing then I did it a third time (thinking I did something wrong) I left the car without the key for 3-5 min and when I turned it on......it's there!!! (too bad it only lasts a few seconds!)
Enjoy!!!
